hey boys and girls

have been noticeing a little oil stain under the car every time i stop now the motor has only done 10000 kms sence it was rebuilt and the catch is i got it off that guy on trade me for $1990 and have found out hes not useing GENUINE seals/gaskets so i have allready replaced the rear crank seal and the rockers seals in the last 2 years this leak is on the left bottom passenger side head and looks like its comming from head gasket

any ideas people what seal it could be?????

there are other signs .

oil mixing with water, compression getting into cooling system ect .

the head gasket may not be "blown" but is leaking from one of the oil gallerys to where you can see the oil.

red = oil

green = water

where your gasket is leaking is on the oil gallery . obviously on the other side of engine tho.

also the reason its only seeping and not flowing out is because those gallery's are the return to the sump . so the oil isnt under pressure from the oil pump :)

i wouldnt be so quick to blame s*** gaskets probably not prepped/built as well as it shouldve. ive never had a single complaint about aftermarket gaskets even the cheap chinese sets. i would only ever use steel gaskets though personal pref. permaseal stuff seems pretty good. not too sure on kerzan but sta's own gaskets they import seem sweet as.

my h/g look like its leaking but its just rocker cover gasket and running everywhere. bitch job so i havent done it yet.

was this from whangarei?

cheep gaskets wont last very long . id put $$ down that the prep wasn't done to get a good seal .

its just seeping so at least there's not compression behind it but only fix is to replace both headgaskets.

agreed crap job.

the way you write that seems like it was coz it was from whangas lol was this the whangas one?

still dont like cheep gaskets had trouble with head gaskets,rockercover gaskets and cam seals . had them leak but no issue with genuine gaskets to date .... well except for re used exhaust gaskets :D

get rocker cover gaskets genuine thers about 20 options and places like repco dont take the time to work it out. thats why heaps of them leak after being replaced. what brands have u used just out of interest?

u cant buy aftermarket flange gaskets for stock headers either i need one its on my to do list. its mint how they use steel not graphite shit

cant remember the brand but it was bnt's generic brand that they got in. got so many leaks that the enginge got pulled out and redone.

all the gaskets were put in by a reputable mechanic (was before i started doing my own work)

as soon as genuine went in not an issue. alot of workshops that use genuine brands wont give a warranty with aftermarket parts either

im not too sure what they sell gasket wise. i offer customers both options its their car their choice.

also a lot of tuners specifiy genuine only. i got some coils for my cousins 220kw legacy which came in an aftermarket box but were genuine and kent @ speedsource refused to fit them...had to pay twice the money and drive into auckland to pick them up to get it tuned the same day. you get points for using genuine parts too so you get free coffee machines and ipods and things. i like the idea of genuine but look at genuine mitzi lifters? aftermarket parts are normally built slightly better its a selling point. for example i think exedy clutches are uprated 25% on stndard clutches and valeo 30% its so people buy them over genuine.

like you guys i think with gaskets genuine or not the prep is were it matters for getting a good seal.

i did my rocker cover not long ago, everything i read on here and elsewhere said to stay well away from anything non-genuine, and genuine are big dollars for what they are, so i got permaseal one for under $50 with washers as well. i took lots of time to make sure everything was clean and put gasket s*** in the right places and its been perfect, no leaks at all. also the one i took out wasnt genuine as i got the caryard to replace both when i bought my car, that was 5 years ago, some ***t had put sealant around the whole gasket so that will be why it leaked i think. prick of a job cleaning it all off.

but yea its all about prep and not using sealant aparts from where you have to.

people think you need sealant all the way around but thats the worse thing you could do it only needs it at a couple of points. the boxer design with the heads on their side wouldnt help either. theres a sticky thread n motor i think that shows it anyway.

      Afternoon team,
      im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
      Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

      Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
