Hey just wondering in my GT-B, if the wire cable for the exhaust butterfly thing is cut/snipped does this mean the butterfly thing is jammed open permanently? sorry, dont know how to add a pic in here :P

Theres a little notch where the cable attaches to the actuator. In an Rsb its in the left hand side of tbe boot where the jack goes. Pull the cable up from its current location and hook it into the notch. This leaves the valve permanently open.

Only if it was never fitted in the first place. If it has been fitted and removed you can reinstall it completely legally...

Reading through the LVVTA standards I'm going to revise my position

Exhaust system interference

2.1(3) An exhaust system fitted to a low volume vehicle must be designed, constructed,

and fitted in such a way that:

(a) the exhaust system, or components within the exhaust system, cannot be

removed, altered, or interfered with, without the use of hand tools; or

(b) the performance or operation of the exhaust system cannot be altered

from inside the vehicle, or whilst the vehicle is in motion, in such a way

that the decibel levels specified in 2.9 are exceeded, unless the vehicle is

fitted with such a system as original equipment.

http://www.lvvta.org.nz/documents/standards/LVVTA_STD_Exhaust_Noise_Emissions.pdf

Such a system may be fitted to ANY vehicle provided that at it's loudest setting it doesn't exceed the noise limits.

Whats the legality around using a varex muffler controlled by the factory actuator? Would sound rather funny... fake VTEC anyone?

as above unless OEM you cant fit them to any car legally

I did modify both the Factory and a After market muffler. I welded an old toyota dyna engine brake butterfly valve into the inlet of a cheap Cannon muffler, hook up the acutator cable and added a change over switch to the single wire of the controller so it either let car ECU control the valve or switch between 25% open or 100%open.

Due to the cheap Muffler it didnt sound as good as I wanted. Then I found another muffler for cheap and stayed with that.

As my car was still on Yearly WOF's I never tried to go for a WOF with this setup

Mine was cut as well, I unclipped the cable from were its attached on the exhaust and removed the spring that closes the valve & used some wire to hold it open, on the stock exhaust its still pretty quiet

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
