Tow Vehicles

Recommended Posts

I trawl TM a bit thinking of reasonable options. If one had a budget of saaay 30k, and they needed a car acceptable for driving in the city**, what would you chose?

** My Fiance' drives it day to day

I'm thinking something thats (turbo) Diesel, definitely not a UTE or a VAN - fuck that. SUV would be acceptable or a wagon. I know old land cruisers and the like are nice but no good in the city. Current Outback is also good but its petrol and MOW's gas when towing. 2.5-3.0T or TT DI would be where its at.

I struggle to find something large enough in Diesel that isnt $$$$$$ thats capable of towing racecar and trailer.

Thoughts people?

If looking at SUV with some luxury the jeep grand limiteds are hard to beat.

Tend to be more expensive to run than euros though??? Guess if thats a consideration dont buy something the size of a small house lol

get a common rail turbo ill hook you up with a chip and you will save a shitload on gas. nothing is as economical as common rail diesel wise. just remember euros are hideous money to fix if theyre high kms even if its diesel. bosses 2008 octavia rs blew 4 injectors under 100000kms $1500 each lucky he had a warranty. remember the diesel particulate filter too. heaps of niggly problems.

buy a great wall...JJ but hyundai/kia make good cheap common rails could be an option? easy to get parts for and actually nice when you get past the brand name.

Eff that get a 550 STX. Or a ranger.

Ive used a ranger hundreds of times for work towing stuff and as long as its 2wd version youll have no troubles towing a house.

The stx has race seats and flash stuff and could tow a small country to the moon so if you had cash id go that way.

Failing that a tdi mondeo or v8 commy or something.

that common rail stuffs mint on gas and chipped you get more power and economy. win/win i reckon.

rangers seem to be the best as far as diesel utes go. you pay similar prices for 2.5 and 3.0 so may as well get the 3.0. comfortable, quiet and you can run people over that piss you off.

Farken stop pissing around get a farken landcruiser and teach the missus to drive it around town.

Nothing beats a cruiser for towing at 30k you could get into a 100 series which is not much different than a large van.

Also servicing costs and knowledge ( away from the normal dealer) is way better than an euro anything...

BMW/AUDI/Porsche are all very very very good makes and their diesels are hard to beat BUT servicing them = uber dollars you have to look at the cost of ownership over the long term

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
