Cert for EBC

So just went to get a warrant, apparently now EBC's require certification as of June 2012 according to the inspector. Rang up a guy in Papakura who does LVV certification and he hadn't heard of it but after looking it up apparently the original inspector is correct.

Seeing as that's my only modification I will be switching back to the factory solenoid and system as $520 for a cert isn't worth it on a daily driver for me.

Any comments or advice welcome

Thats definitely a stupid rule.. There is no "safety hazard" having a EBC in the vehicle unless they are relating it to vehicle speed? No new warrent sheets have came into work regarding EBCs needing a cert so i will keep my eye/ear open for this so called new rule :-\

Like DRFVDR said, it will relate to HP increases.

After market ECU's have been an issue for a long time. I havent heard of anyone getting pulled up on it though.

To be fair, some vehicles can see a pretty big increase in power from upping the boost.

I do agree its getting a bit out of hand though.

Oh FFS are you serious? I was just poking fun...safety reasons are algoods though. Extra power should be certed though coz if you cant stop...unsafe.

Yup..... Any car with seat airbags requires aproved seat covers designed for seats with airbags....

Haha The list's just gets bigger & bigger.

Funny because its just another visual to destract them from finding some real hazzards like control arm bushes, ball joints/ rack arms/ driveshaft uni's & the sruff you want to know what's wrong with

rather to be told oh no have you got a cert for the bov, ecu, ebc, t51r & external gate which has had the time/money & effort to install.

I'm surprised they haven't tried to separate modded vehicles with another type of "lvv of fittness" to deter, or increase revenue

Communism.... almost working its way in :D

you'd be surprised the ppl who thin playboy seat covers are a must! lol

and my EBC has not increased my power in any way : has stopped the boost spiking however!

Sitting at vehicle testing now jus asked the fella. Anything that alters the power output of car from oem more than 10% must have a lvv inspection done. Thus includes a wrx getting an sti turbo! If it changes the output by more tgan 10%

20% as per LVVTA website, but yes any substitution turbo or gate "should" get a cert!

Doesnt mean it hasnt made a difference on anyone elses.

Some people use them for a better method of control and some use it so they can run more boost.

Im with you Lou my car will boost the same on the standard solenoid I put mine in to bring the boost down and control it better

Can they go poking into what ECU you have? Because if its in stock location, bay is tidy you would probably be unlucky get called on a different ecu wouldn't you?

Surely they cant start pulling your interior apart on suspicion to get to it on suspicion. Or can they?

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
