turbo stutter?????

Hi all,

I have searched through and cannot seem to find an answer to my question so Ill ask it.

The other week doing some open road travel in my 1999 wrx I was passing starting at around 95km 2500rpm 5gear and speeding up and the turbo seemed to stutter I watched the boost gauge when I went to pass again same circumstances and it did it again and the boost drooped and rose again when it stuttered ( I dont know whether its the right word but it seems to fit). It did smooth out but it was weird. I had to for the drive back run 95 when I usually run98 dont know if that has anything to do with it. I cant remember if it did it on the way down tho I dont think it did. Havnt tested it recently to see if it does it again now im back on 98.

more likely to be a failing coil/spark plug, although at kms that low you wouldnt expect that, check spark plugs are gapped, could also be a vacuum leak, unless youve got the boost wound right up but it doesnt sound like boost cut

i asked if the car hesitated / jerked - that would indicate a missfire (spark blowout)

boost cut does exactly that - cuts the injectors off

if it is stuttering and the car is still pulling and not jerking / hesitating (just boost fluctuating) it seems more directed at compressor surge

its fairly easy to get compressor surge out of a VF with high load / low revs

nah compressor surge on throttle is nothing to do with bov

if it is surging on throttle- in laymans terms - the turbo is giving too much air - so much the engine cant use all of it so it comes back out the intake

bout as basic as i can put it

it might not be compressor surging - but normally if u stand on the gas in lower gears and its fine - and at low revs in higher gears u get it - it could well be compressor surge

bovs that are tightened will cause off throttle compressor surge - not on throttle

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
