Remapping computer

So I\'ve been browsing a few threads and I noticed a lot of talk about remapping the ecu for different octane gas. This got me thinking about my car naturally. When I brought it, I was told it was tuned for 98. I have no idea if it is or not but I have noticed that over the last 6 weeks or so of running on 95 ( the best I could find in Queenstown ) that the ol girls starting to run lil on the rough side ie slight lack of power on the higher end of the rev range, has developed a slight knocking sound when it\'s cold and just general responsiveness has gone down.

Could this be a petrol vs ecu problem or something else? And would finding someone to "remap the ecu for 95" be beneficial?. The cars goin in for a full service ( engine oil, axle, diff oils etc etc) in a couple of weeks anyway so maybe that\'ll make a difference.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated,

It\'s probably pulling timing from small detonation... That\'d be my opinion anyway. Look up romraider.com and have a good read, will let you know why shops charge so much for a remap at the very least

Octsane booster is snake oil, it doesn\'t work. Don\'t know what car you have but from what I know, subaru\'s should be able to learn that they\'re running on 95 and adjust themselves accordingly. It is possible to remap the ecu and have it tuned for 95 but only certain cars of certain age if you know what i mean?

octane booster works fine it just depends what type you buy you get what you pay for like all things

Someone was saying they other day that they now have the ability to tune 1 through 4 now so pretty much all models except for 5 and 6.

5&6 can be tuned, it just costs the same or there abouts to get a link and tuned... Only place that tunes v5/6 is in napier iirc
