They won\'t hire it to clubs yet as they\'re only allowed to use it for something like 20 days a year due to resource consent constraints

i found it technical, demanding and lots of fun some parts are quite tight with a good straight along the back

when i spoke with the club prezzy, he said we could camp there unofficially like, they have toilets, showers and a club room with comercial kitchen there too

the airport is right by the race track too, as in circa 2k down the road (walking distance, they do flights to auckland n wellies etc)

ofcourse i can find out more if need be

However I do think the north island needs some love, you only need to look at previous years to see that the area where a MM is held enjoys e creased activity for a year or two following.

+1 which is a good reason for it to move around a bit. Every one of those track locations would make a good hosting area for a MM. Those at the extreme of the islands do make it a bit more expensive for people to get to, so maybe going to Hampton Downs one year and Teretonga the next might not be a great idea.

The last three have been Manfield, Taupo & Ruapuna? I didn\'t go to the first of those but good turnout for both Taupo & Ruapuna.

I know how you feel marky, i used to live there! I escaped when i was 16 and never looked back. Highest rate of teen pregnacy in the country, So for all the single men out there girls are easy as And its cheap for accomodation as well since its not a major tourist town and the roads arent damaged by earthquakes? and 3 out of 4 MM have been in the North Island as well so need to do some more south before we switch back to the north

yea i used to have that attitude bout timaz too, and in the in early to mid nineties it seemed like a dreary, depressing, khunt of a place to live

cant remember where the article is but Timaru is now the 4th highest paying salaries in NZ (prolly thanks to the giant fontera factory) these days the population is up by 20k thanks to the earthquakes, so the place is busy-as!

The new 53 Million dollar aquatic centre is a real draw card for the area too.

dont get me wrong it still has it seedy under belly, most NZ cities seem to be like this anyways.

But yea, it has certainly changed ol Timaz.. we are even getting a Lone Star haha

6k for T1 taupo?! I don\'t remember it costing that much.When I did the raydeo trackday it was only 2.5.It is an expensive track but its well worth it.

Just because the previous 3 were in the north before we had one in the south, dosnt mean we have to have another one down there next yeah to "make up for it"I campaignd long and hard for 3 years to get mm down there with bugger all support. And the benifits I out lines have all happened. Gutted I missed it my self.

I believe it\'s time for palmy or taupo personally.

Doesn\'t matter if the place we have it sucks.

It\'s the people and the event that make the MM. The quality of the city we have it in is largely irrelevant.
