Hey guys,

Just wondering what people think about running Gilmer pulley setups on the EJ.

Have researched a little, I see there are a few subby\'s running them, are they something worth while?

Cheers.

Expensive wank on an EJ. If anything the huge pulleys = increase parasitic loss.

Lol I\'m playing with things atm making one myself, if it\'s successful I\'ll post up.

At this stage looks like the power steering will end up being a little under-driven which should make steering feel a bit \'sportier\'

Wow that\'s a lot

The timing gear off a scrap motor has enough toothed pulleys in the right sizes that will work with a bit of time on the laithe.. I made an alternator pulley today i\'ll have to get a picture for you

I\'m just doing it for a laugh really cause I have the pulleys and a laithe at work

Not sure what to do for a belt yet. Have a ca18 cam belt sitting round but it\'s more a good length for a flipped alternator

Here\'s the alternator pulley, turned down the alt pulley and pressed (fucken tight) into the toothed idler that usually has a couple of bearings in it. Added some "quick metal" for good measure

Bored out the centre of a cam pulley today to 24mm to suit the crank. Turns out where the locating dowel sits is in the right place and is the right size for the cranks keyway and thick enough too. May need spaced out but we\'ll see. If I can get measurements of the p/s pump pulleys hole and how far offset it is from the pump that\'d be great.

If there\'s interest i\'d almost make a set or two

Certainly wouldn\'t be 700 that\'s for sure lol

Price would depend on whether you can supply parts. I\'ll happily do it for half what you\'ve been quoted? Not going to go making them for people until I have a setup on my own to see if it\'s going to work and not throw belts all the time or something silly. Last thing I want is a bad name for myself/my work.

So far I see it requiring

-Alternator pulley

-2xCam gears

-Toothed idler (two on an ej20, usually have bearings inside)

I had enough for two sets but scrapped a tonne of old parts and ended up only keeping enough to make one set.

Will update list as I go. Hopefully getting my hands on a p/s pump tomorrow so I can start on the p/s pulley.

I believe two of the cam gears have lipped sides to stop the belt coming off, mine don\'t though but iirc they came off after receiving hammer action.

Just went and checked the cam gear I still have at home here. It\'s a LHS one which i\'m kicking myself for now because the RHS ones have the two lips and have a better offset shape to them for clearance

The old cam gears you are referring to, are these the old steel p1 type?

My V5 and 6 sti heads both did. Dont v3/4 have a mix?

I can\'t remember what mine were from when I did my cam belt now lol

These are off an ej20g out of an 89 rs legacy. I would guess most early motors would use the same timing gear, so a stuffed 1.5 would be cheap as.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
