New SG5 Cross Sport Owner

Howdy all,

I\'ve just bought myself a \'04 turbo cross sport to replace an aging nissan terrano - bit of a performance difference :)

Anything I need to know about the SG5 turbo models? Shes completely stock at the moment and I can\'t really see myself doing much to it, got to many other toys to soak up all the funds.

I\'ve done a bit of reading and it seems as though mods like exhaust and intake etc are almost useless unless flashing the ECU to take advantage of the changes? I am going to throw some seafoam stuff through it to see if it solves a slightly rough idle and very mild hesitation when coming on boost.

Will get some pics up when this rubbish weather goes away.

welcome along, the cross sports are basically an xt forester with a few sti forester goodies, very nice wagons.

most mods on any vehical require a retune to get the most out of them, however yours is reflashable, so if you are any good with laptops / prepared to do a LOT of reading / research and take your time, you can tune them yourself. very cheep to do too :)

or, you can get a pro tune from the likes of a tuning shop, it is better than a road tune, but you pay a lot more for it.

With a tune you should get more power and better economy but all comes down to how you drive it and whether you go for heaps more power or just a tickle. Well worth doing imo.

I think a road tunes better personally as its realtime not sitting in front of a fan.

I\'m not that keen on trying the ECU remap/flash myself. I\'d find a way to royally mess things up. Are there any preferred places here in CHCH that do it? Or is there a pro on here that does cashies?

It\'d be nice to squeeze a bit more HP out of the car, goes OK in stock form but nothing to get excited about.

Was it done by a professional tuner? I get very nervous when thinking about ECU changes etc... the last thing I need is a blown motor.

I put a load of sea foam through the car this weekend, it has made the idle a lot smoother and revs a lot better.

I suspect the factory boost curve is rather \'disappointing\'. It seems to have a lot of pull down low but fades away with the revs climbing - I need to put a boost gauge in to see what exactly it is doing.

      Afternoon team,
      im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket. 
      Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.
