Vf27 Turbo info

Green Machine

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, So im after abit of information as I can find almost nothing about the vf27 turbo other than that it is the secondary turbo on a legacy and that it flows(420cfm at 18psi)

Now im after a turbo for a honda im building. Engine im running is a 2.3L from an odyssey which can only rev safely to around 7k rpms. Its a stock block build with 8.8:1 compression and im looking for around 180kw so dont need a massive turbo.

So does anyone have any information about the vf27 and how much power people typically make with them? Any information would be great. Going off the chart im looking at the vf24 only flows 425cfm at 18psi.

Thanks

One thing with honda is no engine performs as well as them. If youre running a vtec head on a 2.3 and turboing it will be a serious weapon and need the right turbo probably relatively big. I dont know but I think big compressor and big exhaust housing is reqd to make them perform or it would become a choke point?

I know there is a local integra turbo making 240kw ish but unsure exactly what engine/turbo is in it. A customer is doing a mini project K24A turbo running a CRV 4wd driveline. Apparently its quite a common mod in the states I just cant think of the website that sells all the subframes etc.

Isnt 180kw only slightly more than what it would make tuned anyway if running high comp internals n/a which would make it all a whole lot easier?

VF27 is a turbo out of a TT legacy I wouldnt take that 420cfm as accurate until someone knowledgeable can confirm it.

I could make 180kw na on that engine running k20a pistons in it which would bump the static compression to I think 12.5:1 but I have opted to go down the turbo route because its easier to throw another stock block in when it goes bang than to rebuild a new engine and due to the nature of the engine having long stroke reving it high as an na engine all the time will cause it to have a short shelf life anyway.

Suppose I should just spend a little extra and get a decent wrx turbo. Not like its going to cost much more in the scheme of things anyway. Im just a cheapo when it comes to buying parts to get the overall cost of a build down.

Cheers

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
