NEARLY STOLEN: V6 STi

Guest

Recommended Posts

Nearly stolen today from the Carpark at work (Armstrong Subaru) on the corner of Tuam and Durham Street around 3pm.

Second Attempt in 2 weeks, this time they smashed it up trying to get it started (my home made immobilizer is working!)

Called the cops who had beat there within 5 minutes and a positive ID on one of the guys in 10 minutes... Will wait and see when they catch the pricks, might even get left alone with him in a holding cell while he's still in handcuffs :)

Keep your cars close to you people and maybe invest in a pitbull or two to guard it.... and if anyone wants to buy a V6 STi with only 62,000k's on it with a fresh lockset and brand new alarm system, mines now up for sale!

Geez you're lucky, Lance. I'm so glad they didn't take her! How much damage? The usual surround and ignition? I'm sure you know those are a pig to replace in ver5 :-\

Why's that??

I was told by Strong that the parts are pretty darn rare as the design of the ignition is specific to that year of vehicle... the ver5 and ver6. I couldn't use those parts (which they actually had one of in stock) when I wanted to replace my smashed ver4 stuff.

Oh so they're not a pig to replace, but to get hold of secondhand.

I must say I reckon Subaru ignitions have to be one of the easiest to remove.

I honestly couldn't count how many I've replaced. Break-in damage repair is one of the biggest types of work we do!!

Might be easier for people to under stand what your after if you ask for 1998 HX stuff instead of version 4 stuff.........

Same stuff. Usually the only difference is whether or not the plastic ring around the key is illuminated or not.

Thank you. I was about to inform him that people should only talk about what they know from experience, or they might look like n00bs ;)

I seriously don't see how an IGNITION and a COLUMN SHROUD are going to be different across a model range sharing the same chassis. Same chassis, same shape, same year...how hard is that?

A GC8E is a GC8E, if we're not talking about forced induction mechanical gear. If you've not worked on both STFU ::)

Lol yes maturity... I too shall partake after one last parting shot.

Something you learn in replacing or upgrading parts, Sharktale. Ask for year/version, and chassis number. Not just model. Example: I say it's an HX20s at wreckers, and get asked 'is it a 2, 3 or 4?' ;) Strong know to give me version 4 GC8 stuff, they know what it is and call it such.

It's not just STis that use the version system. It's a common theme throughout the model range.

ANYWAY. About the guy this thread is about!

Good luck with getting her mint again Lance. That car was absolutely awesome when you bought her and I hope she gets back that way! <3

I had to LOL, i just had to. Though a straightjacket may give you a slim chance.

Weren't STi's listed by version, regular WRX by MYXX. Not that i give a flying fuck in all but its so damn confusing.

No one really cares tbh...tis ever so slightly interesting if you have nothing else to do.

AFAIK it's colloquial, but applies. The STi isn't THAT different from other Imprezas...it just got actually decent parts as it was manufactured alongside the rest instead of among them as you know. You ask for version 4 C'Z or HX20s stuff, you'll get the right stuff.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
