Anyone in our around Ashburton that can help install a stereo?

There\'s a double din unit in my car but I really don\'t like it. I\'m thinking of buying a new double din unit but don\'t know how to install it. It\'s about time I learnt this sort of thing and would appreciate some help.

Is it a stock double din unit?

If so - easiest way is to buy the simple wiring looms from ripco or supercheap

I did it with my recent install to save some time

Usually a 2 piece loom

I needed 1 to go from SUBARU plug -> UNIVERSAL plug

and another to go from the UNIVERSAL -> PIONEER

cost me like $20

It is simple - remove trims and undo screws holding the brackets in - undo screws holding the unit into the bracket - unclip wiring from rear of unit. Reverse to install new unit

google might be able to give you more vehicle specific instructions for removing the old

Hey mate, I live in Methven too. I ended up getting it installed by a company in Ashburton. All up cost me $100 and it was money well spent. Whoever installed the other unit butchered the wiring and the aerial wasn\'t even connected! The guy that did the install let me sit in the car and watch what he was doing so that if I ever wanted to take the unit out or anything I\'d have a better idea.

Absolutely a GC! Even cut the wires that made the car beep when you put it in reverse or have the keys in the ignition and door open. That beeping always annoyed the shit or of me!

in my legacy I just had to unplug the little black box which made the noise. No cutting wires

On mine I opened it up and desoldered the piezo buzzer thing...

It\'s the little touches that count
