DIY - Battery Relocation

Hey Guys

Heres my DIY For relocating battery to boot..

Youl need the following

A battery box.

4x 10mm bolts to attach to the floor

5-8m of power cable ( i used 12mm diameter welding earth cable) works fine

4-6x lugs depending on how many earths you have

insulation tape

and some tools

Take the battery out and the plastic tray it sits in.

Then unscrew the lugs on the postive terminal..These wires join to the starter and fuse box.

Pull up the carpet on the passengers side and remove rear seats boot carpet etc..

Run the cable through the car under carpert/seats etc.

Find a suitable location to bring out through firewall. If you have no aircon then the drip overflow hole works fine.

Attach a lug to the power cable at both ends..

Bolt the 3 lugs (fuse box, starter, power cable) together with a suitable size bolt..10mm i think...

Wrap in insulation tape.

Cut the terminal off the earth cable and solder the earth from the motor to the chassis together.

Find a suitable location in the boot and attach battery box.

Install battery.

Find a suitable earth..I run a earth cable to the rear seat bolts (Make sure you sand paint back to give good contact)

Attach earth.

Hook up the power and earth cable to the battery and you should be done.

Note there are other ways this can be done..Have looked into it and was the easiest and simplist way to do it.Works fine for me and does the job required.

Hope that helps guys

Cheers

Brad

apart from there is no protection if you short the cable between battery and factory fuse in the front ie where it goes through the fire wall if you have the battery in the boot, i would be putting a circuit breaker so you can kill all the power in that cable if you need to or if there's a fault it will kill it itself.

you could even use one of the large battery switch as well.

Circuit breakers can be rather expensive for a good one, fuses are much cheaper, but a C/B is alot nicer :)

i had a bad experience, dude with car smoking waved me down and asked for a fire extinguisher, i had none, he gave me a hand full of notes (over $100 I'd say) and asked me to drive 5 mins back into coromandel, by the time i got back the whole car was alight and he was crying, start of Xmas hols and all, if either of us had an extinguisher his car would have been saved, so now i have at least one 1kg extinguisher in every car i have in case the first one fails or i can't fully put the fire out and need to buy more time! oh and a pair of side cutters and a crescent to disconnect battery

anyways yes you could use a master switch but that won't auto disconnect in a fault so only good if you can switch it quick enough\remember to switch it!

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
