Rosssub's Single Turbo Conversion.

The HDI ebcr got ripped out today, worked fine but the controller makes a horrible relay seizure rattle under initial boost that I couldn't quieten down. Also still sure it has a pre-set gain level.

So I grabbed one of these el-cheapo gated in-cabin MBC today:

Installed following this Turbosmart in-cabin install:

I didn't really want it in-cabin so I've installed it as an under bonnet job, bleeding back to intake:

About to go and do some adjusting, if it spikes at all I can remove the gate ball and spring as run it as a simple bleed valve:

Nicely repping the CS sticker. Would be pretty keen to get my hands on one at some point

Look into becoming a paid member Andy. :)

Well that was very boosty spikey, even turned right down it's instantly over 20psi. I've now removed the gate ball and spring from between the turbo and waste gate, so it's now just a bleed valve.

Edit: Perfect stable boost with gated ball and spring removed.

Just done another 5000km service, which means I've now done 11,000km on the new engine. It still makes me smile every time I start it and hasn't missed a beat.

The only issue I've had is a very light seeping from between the oil cooler and block. Just enough for a few drips in the under tray after 5000km, enough to annoy me. All because I reused the original

O-ring when I fitted the cooler to the new short block. So today while the filter was off I've replaced the oil cooler O-ring:

Managed to change it over without dumping the coolant and removing hoses. Just removed the oil cooler connector shaft then pulled the cooler down slightly:

Original 225,000km reused o-ring removed:

New o-ring fitted, connector shaft reinstalled and torqued to 40ft/lb:

I've brought a version 7 5 speed gearbox cross member and still plan on changing to a factory fit aftermarket DP. Hearing that the Grimmspeed divorced pipe isn't made for JDM GDBC/D VF36/VF37, I'm thinking about the Tomie Expreme DP through fortyone auto. Semi divorced 3" tapering to 2.5" at the rear flange, so hopefully a straight fit without any welding:

Better pics and $100 dearer through Redline:

So still more to come, ASAP. :)

I was stoked to see this thread get over 10,000 views in 12 months, now at 14,880 odd. :) About time I did an update.

After almost a year searching for a 3" stainless aftermarket DP to fit the VF36/37 JDM TS for under $900, a couple of failed refunded purchases and a few rage quits. I've finally brought a few bits and pieces to make my own.

Starting with an OEM version 8 STI DP (cheers Tehaviata), to make a jig with. A 3" stainless SS divorced DP from Jap Race in Christchurch for $150:

Then a Kinugawa VF36/37 dump pipe head from Driven Performance for $285:

http://drivenperformance.co.nz/products-page/dump-pipes/page/3/

Now to make a jig, cut the SS head/flange off and get it welded up:

Yeah definitely need the crossmember changed for any single turbo DP to go on. I'll have some pics comparing the crossmembers and clearances soon.

Sweet, just note it only has a rear O2 sensor port and nothing at the top.

This pic shows how much the single turbo DP cuts into the TT gearbox cross member:

Is the crossmember change only applicable to 3rd gens, I have a aftermarket dp for my bd5.

I've been told there's no need to get a different crossmember for the bd5.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
