Importing car bits

After some bits around $100 from taiwan would search but after current info not couple of years ago. Anyone had anything recently over the $60 threshold but under $200? Interested in what you had to pay duty wise. The customs duty calc doesnt seem to work and Ive never been down this road before.

I've been bringing in parts way over the threshold, just depends if customs pick up on it.

Most 1of the dealers undervalue the items to stay below the threshold, dodgyee.

From the site "If the total you owe us in duty and GST charges is less than NZ$60, then no money will be collected. This does not apply if you are importing alcohol and tobacco products."

If duty fees are calculated at less than 60 dollars no money is collected. Duty fees are variable by the looks of it; Anything $333.30 and under no duty fees will apply (shipping inclusive I think) But just took a bit of fiddling with the calculator to find thresholds; 400 is discretionary territory i think.

Ordered a new pair of timberland boots recently - cost me US$225 - $55 freight from NZpost youshop (Great service BTW)

Received them a few weeks back

Didn't hear anything what so ever from NZ customs

I played with the customs calculator thingy and thought I would be paying some tax (might have read it wrong)

Same with the mud flaps I brought recently - US$160 incl freight - Received them like 3 days later with nothing from NZ customs

^ they both total out to less than 60 dollars worth of duties; it's an oddball variable rate. Wish they'd disclose the formula. could probably work out the rate of change if I play enough with the higher numbers.

All rates and duties for different types of item are listed on Customs website. Seriously, there's this massive freakin' list for all the kinds of things you might want to import.

If you use the calculator they have on their website: US$225 + $55 for freight = NZ$128.67 due

For car parts the threshold is $330 as already said. If you wanna wait a little bit I got some parts coming in from partsouq at a value of like $200. Should be here within 2 weeks

Some now even ask you what value to put for customs purposes!! Parsouq offer cheap and fast delivery. I have only ordered once but would do again.

ive never paid gst on anything aye . have bought many bike parts and stuff worth 1 k over the years . last year bought 4 aem wide bands in one package from usa . maybe they didnt realise 4 times gauge could be worth over 200 each . but yeah try your luck .
