Advice on Tyres

What about kumho 215 40 17 jase? Nothing in zu37 but guessing theres something similar.

I got KH16's 215/40(or 45 cant quite remember this late)/17 and aside from being noisy so far have been a good tyre- except weird as degrading on the left front wheel the outer edges of each tread strip. at first assumes was just guard rub; but it goes in to at least half way and only on the outer edges.

Anywho; paid 125 a corner fitted and balanced. do the job.

I feel like these zetum things there has to be *some* kind of catch, is it genuinely a good, super cheap tyre but with poos marketing?

Guess that counts for a lot... Those achilles things used to be the super budget brand, sponsor a few drift cars and now they're desireable

Need to get yoself some sponsorship Jase

Hi marky..I to was a bit apprehensive of this brand but after doing a bit of research decided to give them a try..I have done about 5000ks on them and have had no issues with them on the road..Can push on through the twistes with 100% confidence..

Tried them at manfeild playday and they grip fine for 4 to 5 laps before they go squishy..Much the same result as most deep tread road tyres..

Can't find any problems so far..

Value for money is excellent..

Dairusire;

I had RE01R too (a tyre no current road BS can match).

In road tyres the only realistic (affordable) choice is the Nitto NT05.

Superb in the dry and not as bad as you think in the wet.

Good value too, last time I looked they were less than the over-rate RE002

Soooo so so true. The RE01R was just a unbelievably good tire and I loved it.

I've now however gone to the Falken RT615K and HOLY SH!T they are GREAT. Nice stiff sidewall, Really good feel even when mildly warm, and when they are hot.... lets just say they stick like a pig to mud

$100 a corner or thereabouts for the coupe, $140 or something for the Legacy. Kindly fitted by Neil. What are your Federals worth?

Yeah i was paying about the same including shipping from Auckland for the E30, but that's just piddly 15s, not sure what 17s would be worth. I wouldn't say the Federals are the best, but as a compromise between grip and life they have done well so far. I think I have only done 2 track days on them though. And it would be fair to say that I am not overly kind to tyres.

As I understand it, Bob Jane tyres in Australia did a deal with Kumho to manufacture the KU31 (or whichever model it is) under licence with a different name. The catch is, you can't ring up Kumho and complain if you don't like them.

Zetum ZU37. The ChCh guys spotted these. I just switched our BP5 GTB (225/40/18) after competing on them in numerous street sprints and autocrosses this year, wet and dry, in the coupe. I fail to see a better value tyre on the market currently. That said, you can certainly spend up to three times as much (RE050A etc) and get perhaps a scientifically measurable improvement in grip under certain conditions along with terrible tread wear.

Thanks for the advice, will look them up in auckland

Neil said that the compounds were different between the kumho and zentums... the zentums are made from a lower grade silicone or something.

They definitely seem to work pretty well at Port Rd and autox for you though... although, if you were to put some more widely proven

tyres on you may suddenly bust out an 87 second run and realise that the zentums are rubbish :)

Definitely not claiming some sort of magical semi slick capability. Just a good value, surprisingly grippy, hardwearing, super mild mannered tyre.

If I could pull out ~5 seconds over a couple of kilometres on tyres alone, I'd be laughing =]

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
