V4 STI MOTOR IN SF5 FORESTER

Hey guys

Im looking at buying a new car and found a Forester with a Sti v4 motor in it. Any way i can identify that the motor in the engine bay is actually an V4 STI motor? I viewed it today and it has a purple sticker AFM (could be old one from forester motor?), couldnt quite read what turbo it has and the owner didnt know what turbo it had either, has STI intercooler.

I'd say the only way to tell if it has an STi motor would be to pull it apart..

Check the injectors and ECU. Purple AFM ain't STi.

Orange AFM is Sti? What kind of injectors do they have?

If its an sti, it'll have yellow injectors, a vfxx turbo, orange sticker afm and a 6s or 2s ecu i think

6s or 75

2s is the non-STi WRX Wagon (Purple AFM, Grey injectors)

There is the 1s ECU which runs with the orange AFM and Yellows (STi stuff) but has a different tune compared to the 6s.

who cares about afm/ecu type/injectors etc lol, you can still have the forester afm/ecu/injector combo on a drop in sti engine, you can tell by take rocker cover off and see if its shim under you could also do this without removing covers if you had one of those cool inspection cameras, removing the gudgeon pin plugs and dropping that piston to bdc you will see if the piston has casting marks on it or not.
