Removing broken Key from Lock

How much of the key broke off?

Can you see the end of the key when you push the dust flap aside?

We use dental picks for extracting broken keys, you have any lying around? ;D

Dont push the key further into the lock, it can only come out one way.

If worse comes to worse pull the lock out and send it up to me.

Take the lock out of the car and bang it really hard on a piece of wood to shake the key out far enough to grab with the tweezers? Might have to jamb the tab open while you do it, perhaps a two handed operation on the edge of the kitchen table with one hand holding a pin to hold he tab open. Failing that take it apart or have it taken apart.

You would be better off just taking the lock into a locksmith your in wellington right? Go to Master lockamiths and get them to do it be around 25 dollars be worth it save you the pain of giving yourself a nice stab in the hand hahahahahahahahaha

How do you break a key in a lock anyways? Generally they seem to bend a bit before snapping and no lock should be that tight

Some would say i went full retard, some would say unlucky.

I put key in, turned it, boot unlocked, key stub came out, important part of key remained in lock.

I suspect it was already cracked, and its not something ya look at when opening the car each day, i'm just kinda glad it didn't come out in the ignition :-[

OUch, that hurt my feelings, i'm going to sit in a corner and cry now.

Impressed with your sensitivity. It shows a lot of courage.

There some stuff from shellys call "knead it" its like a metal putty, when kneaded together with the inner compound it become hard as metal, you could use a wax to prevent the sticking to the key lock.

knead some together (soft) and use it to attach to the broken key bit once harden It may just pull out or pull out enough to get a pliers on to it..

(my 2 cents)

Umm lets see I've only been a locksmith for about 12years and I would say that i have seen people try this before and it will all end in tears and more money wasted. Be smart and take it to a locksmith my 5bucks worth :)

Yeh will go to a locksmith, thats the easiest way methinks

I was however, thinking of jamming it open with a pin and then doing a few hard launches and hoping the inertia from the car will throw it out. Maybe in a school zone as i heard theres more grip there.

UMM yeah sounds sweet............................................Bahahahahahahahahahahaha prob more chance of giving yourself whiplash than getting the key out!!!!! And again could end up being expensive too :)

Got called out one day to remove a broken key from an ignition.

Got the broken piece out and some sellotape as well.

Seems that the petrol station attendent broke the key and thought it would be a

good idea to sellotape the 2 pieces together ::)

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
