250T dead engine; scrap or fix?

Hi,

I've got a 95 250T wagon that's had the bearing go, it's reg is almost expired and I'm trying to figure out what the best cause of action is to do; scrap it or find a new/used engine and someone to install, just over 200k on it.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking, but just not sure value-wise, would I get more for my buck if I threw a new engine in it or is it best to call it quits and just buy another wagon from 92-98?

End of the day I need a wagon.

For the cost of a second hand engine and install etc you would be up for $2000 plus, for a rebuilt engine 3g-4g for another car thats running 2g? i think you should upgrade it to bh5 wagon if your only pick is legacy otherwise a forester could be another option(better)

lol wtf planet are you on ?hijaka . its not an sti , a 250 t engine is like $300 bolt it in yourself and go . maybe do cambelt and clutch while your at it . but prolly not if it looks ok because it really doesnt matter .

Throw a 2 litre or 2.2 in it, they will last longer then the 2.5 for not alot of loss

when it comes down to it, scrap it and spend another couple of grand on another wagon that who knows how good the engine is, or spend the 2k on a decent engine and installation, and have a car that you know where you are at with it.

Case in point although not a subaru, I have just spent $3k on doing a full engine rebuild on a isuzu MU, the old engine developed a bad knock after an overheat,I could of scrapped it then and there and then went and spent anywhere between 2 and 5k on another MU BUT i would be buying a vehicle that I have no idea how good it is, I know that my MU has no rust, has a good trans, and everything else on it is mint, so I dropped 1800 on a rebuild kit( not bad considering it included a new head, pistons, liners, rings, bearing and a full gasket set) I then spent a few hours rebuilding the engine, I will now have a vehicle that will last for another few 100,000 km for 3k

If you cant do the work yourself from op it sounds like you cant or dont have time for it just sell as is. If you can try and do it yourself and have it sitting there while you do it you could prob get it on road for 1k by buying a new longblock and only replacing necessities.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
