Evo Brembo vs Subaru Brembo

Recommended Posts

Can anyone enlighten me on the differences between the two sets of callipers? Looking at upgrading my brakes. Not too worried about the bolt holes matching up as im fitting 319mm rear discs to my v3 poverty pack r160 single pot hubs. And I already have 330mm discs on the front with Subaru 4 pots and adapters. I've got my eye on these....

I presume these are evo brakes? Are the brake hose fittings the same? will they fit the same diameter and width of disc?

Cheers

Basically the same design calipers, use the same pads, yet obviously have different mount spacing... BUT, the Evo front calipers are set up for a leading mount rather than Subarus trailing mount so if you mounted them as is on a Subaru, the calipers would be "upside down" with the pistons around the wrong way (meaning the disc would pass the larger piston first and this can cause pad taper issues - always have the disc pass the small piston first in differential bore calipers). Since the Evo calipers have external fluid crossover pipes you should be able to get around this by swapping the bleed screws to the position of the crossover pipe and vice versa on each front caliper then you can run them the correct way (although I have done this before with success on other brands of calipers, I have never pulled apart Evo Brembos so don't take my word for it! Realistically, it should work fine though).

The Evo fronts take a 320mm x 32mm thick disc, so wont have an issue using with the Subaru Brembo sized discs which are 326mm x 30mm. I think the Evo rear rotors are also slightly smaller than the STI but shouldn't be an issue with fitting them with those calipers.

Oh, and brake hose fittings will be fine.

If swapped left to right would it solve the problem?

May as well buy sub ones for same money and normally 1k gets you rotors as well.

That was my first instinct too, but surely not correct. If they do always pass the smaller piston first then the only difference would be the bleed nipples/crossovers would be the wrong way around. Having it on the front of the wheel will only mean it passes the small then large piston going downwards rather than upwards for the subaru way. Mounting them in the subaru direction wouldn't cause the piston order to change at all, small piston still touches first. Swapping left to right will mean the crossovers/ bleeders are the right way around but the large piston will then touch first.

Same problem the BRZ guys have when putting Subaru Brembo's on their cars, just the other way aroumd

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
