Rev D Reflash - who has done it?

Flashing procedure courtesy of Matt (throttlehappy)

Backup the factory map

Early model ones are a *****. Green plugs together are just under the driver side dash near left knee BUT there is also a flash connector plug as well for flashing in new tunes(stock tune can be sucked out without it) If it is a single white plug with 2 wires on it, with the terminals in a T shape then its easy to permanently cut the plug off and join the wires:052911%20010.jpg

Otherwise it is a 4 wire plug like this: blockcon3gn6.jpg

Left side get bridged together and then right side together so 2 loops etc

From there, to flash in the tune... turn ignition ON just before pressing Enter key to start loading tune

I take no responsibility for you blowing up your engine.

Is that for RevD only, or will it work on RevC etc as well?

Just Deeeeee sorry holmes

Datalogging will work on the earlier ones tho so you can at least have half an idea of when to stop winding the boosty knob out

Aww stink biscuits!!

Oh well, it'll work on Kims one, my one will have to harden the firetruck up!

Genuinely hilarious, if not particularly intelligent haha

videos of said hilarity for those of us not familiar with maps?

Cos right now I'm feeling like i'm reading music now: except this I know equates to fun.

It's literally deliberate backfires when on throttle lift-off, haha. I'll grow up one day, maybe. Only does it if you feather the throttle on decell or on a real quick shift at full noise. #becausefamilycar

If anyone's interested, here's an abbreviated shot of a quick fang in second through the VOD (now it's not really a valley... more of a mild plateau?).

Will get it on one of them real life dyno things once I get the big downpipes on, would be good to get sign-off it's safe with proper knock gear and see if there's any gain in leaning it off anywhere.

Suffice to say it's moving a hell of a lot more air now than it was on the stock tune anyway, the top end is well improved it isn't crippled by the BOV being deliberately opened - it holds over 250g/sec from 5500 and 270g/sec airflow from 6200-7200 limiter, it's very much a top-end sort of drive but feels good.

Hell one day I might spring for my own wideband... Probably should give Andy his cable back now too haha

It gets me every time, how do pretty much all car companies make cars that are so badly tuned from the factory. Millions invested in every possible facet of building cars and then they stumble at the last hurdle and get some monkey to make a base tune that sort of works. You can't even say it's a safe tune to run anywhere because it really isn't, it's just bad.

Oh well, it means that there is always a market for aftermarket tuners right?

I wonder if the Bugatti Veyron is tuned properly or if they didn't even get that one right.

I wouldn't say that all cars are tuned badly. We are tuning for best power and response, they have to tune for emissions too. I've heard tuners say if their tunes require emissions testing it's always a case of compromising on everything else to meet the emissions standards.

Mind you the TT Legacy is definitely an exception at least with an ADM tune - it's terrible. Either there is an underlying issue that develops on all cars, or they simply did a shocking job tuning it. They ping everywhere!

I would have thought that best power and response in most cases should = low emissions.

My understanding (limited) is that if the engine runs an AFR at or near stoich, then the harmful emissions will be at a minimum. I think many stock tunes get even this wrong. Or maybe I'm just talking out of my ***. That is a distinct possibility.

I have a limited understanding too - but an AFR near stoich will not make max power, and generally is not sustainable under load with boost - at least not without direct injection, which i believe can inject fuel later in the combustion process than when knocking would occur. Reasons like this are why the modern direct injection cars are so much more economical.

Yep factory cars are tuned for many things. Including emissions, drive-ability, saftey, longevity etc etc.

The design team will have a specific set of targets to achieve. Drive-ability might be improved at the detriment of outright performance. Safety and emissions may hurt both...

Yerrp, can fiddle with most parameters. Not quite errthang but between the several ecu definitions I have now (which is like, translations of the code) I think it's totally configurable once I combine them all together and make them work nicely.

One thing which is interesting (to me anyway) is it has two totally separate maps for intercooler valve open or closed, for fuel and timing both. That pressure valve opening is a deliberate thing in the stock tune too, explains why most b4 dyno charts nosedive at about 6200.

Can even tell it to disable or ignore any differential sensor faults to run single turbo on this ecu without having to do any wiring or hardware changes. So much for rev d being the hard one to convert, if anything I'd say it's the opposite if that works fine

Ill post up some more info this weekend, like a real marky diy spec guide to basic flash fiddling... It's not as scary as a lot think, just need patience and common sense

So should i be cancelling my appointment with DTech and coming to see you then? disable differential pressure sensor and all that junk and dial in some boost. Job done haha. Nah but seriously mint work this is comforting as its something even DTech was not sure about, if the standard ECU will take changes like this so its good to see that its all doable and hopefully DTech will be able to just plugin and work their magic. Keep the info coming!

Do it so its ready for tune when you drop it off. Should work in with you and get mine tuned same time so have a ride home if blows up.

Im sure Dave and Tony at DTech have all the cables and will just plug in and go ohh yea ok cool job done. they seem like onto it chaps. also they have a week so they can just deal with it haha

Who have you got in mind for your tune when the day comes? Tauranga is a bit of a hike but they have been pretty helpful for me and flexible on booking time etc

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
