Hi,

Has anyone had mechanical work done by onshow kustoms?

Im looking to get my cambelt, waterpump, etc done and their price has been cheapest by far. $800 for full cambelt kit. Was thinking getting clutch done at $850 as well even though its still all good might as well do all at once.

They said they use gates belt and aftermarket parts from autosource.

All other places were over 1k for cambelt kit.

Any feedback would be appreciated

Thanks

Ive always been told that when doing that sort of work (cambelt etc) genuine parts were the only way 2 go... i havnt had any work done by them or heard about that side of there biz (only seen there panel work etc) so cant say anything about that...

Sometimes (most of the time) cheapest isnt always the best :)

Yeah someone just msg me and said that their panel work wasnt great.

I usually go for genuine at subtech but thought the price difference of 350 was quite a saving.

Well to be fair you can remove the clutch, fix the leak, then put the clutch back on - they aren't a one-use component

Would be like $50 in parts if you DIY'ed it

If you -did- pay someone to do it and you -did- replace the clutch while the box was off anyway, at least make it an upgrade to justify it

As for the workmanship - they've been in business for ages, that says a lot, however I'd be inclined to shop around as a cambelt & clutch change isn't something you need a "performance" type workshop to do specifically

It would have to be done at a shop or if someobe here can change it for cheap would be nice.

They said it was a heavy duty exedy clutch so i think that would be an upgrade.

I have tried highbrook 1200, subtech 1127, michael parr automotive 1150, innovative 1050 and onshow customs was cheapest at 800 for cambelt kit byt aftermarket parts.

I shall shop around some more and try find best deal.

umm, but using an HD clutch when a standard clutch works is not justifiable.

Phone PS Automotive in pukekohe 092389026, he only uses genuine parts wont use anything else, normally has a special on cambelt jobs too.

worked for years at winger before he set up is own business. Qualtiy of work is shown by my build thread.

It is if you're planning to lean on the car down the track

And some folks like the feel of a more grabby one

I know of someone that had a STI Type R painted there and the job was absolutely terrible! I definitely wouldn't go to them for mechanical work.

Timing belt usually costs around $1200 including water pump, idlers etc... I'd definitely go with original parts.

Yeah i didnt go there at the end. I got a mate who recommended me to use this guy and his prices are reasonable and has warrenty on it. Anyone know him his names snow ex possume borne mechanic.

Their paint work is terrible. I'm about to go all consumer guarantees act on Ray and get someone else to fix his mess and bill him for the job. I wouldn't go there for anything. It's like they just don't care

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
