Replacing the window gussets in your SG Forester

So if you own an SG Forester (04-08) and you are experiencing what seems like wind noise from the tweeter area when you're travelling at speed, this is caused by the black window gussets. When they age, they stretch and don't grip the window any more, which lets wind through from outside.

Comparison between old and new. There's a good 5mm gap between the old rubbers, which lets in a lot of wind. The new ones are a lot more sealed to the glass, so it alleviates this problem.

Replacing these is quite straight forward. All you need are:

Medium-sized Flat-head & Phillips screwdrivers

10mm deep socket and wrench - 3/8's is probably easier

Remove the tweeter cover and unplug the black connector to the tweeter

Use flat-blade to lift up the flaps to access these two screws, and unscrew them.

Use flat-blade to lift up the window mech and pull up, and undo the power clip(s)

Use flat-blade to pry the outside of the door-handle trim apart, using this little tab

From the corner, pull the door card away from the door. DO NOT pull the rubbers, as this is attached to the door, not the doorcard

Undo power mirror plug

Undo mirror screws x 3

Undo the 3 bolts at the top and the nut at the bottom. Peel back the rubber trim to reveal one of the bolts. Only 2 are circled at the top but I missed one. Two of them will require the deep socket.

Pull the old gusset out and put the new one in. The threaded insert at the bottom where the nut goes onto is a bit of a pain. You need to push this in and up to be able to remove the old gusset. When putting the new one in, use this threaded insert to get it into the right place, then wiggle the gusset around to line up the rest of the holes correctly.

Problem solved!

Yeah, but the Forester is the only model that I've actually seen many people actually complain about and do something about it. I've not seen anybody with a WRX or Legacy do it... but that's just me.

My wrx wagon had a very loud noise but only on drivers side. If I pushed on it on the inside it would go quiet. Never got around to researching a remedy

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
