I got this from aussie last week. http://www.ebay.com/itm/272041643621?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Didn't need climate controls cos' the facia clips onto the ac unit. There was no way I was going to spend $600+ for that.

the 2006+ has a single piece of plastic with climate and radio, which sucks

Um, isn't this the 'kit', including the separate top fascia?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/GENUINE-Subaru-Liberty-Legacy-Outback-Double-Din-Fascia-Facia-AV-Panel-Kit-S-/281869278122?hash=item41a0b7dbaa:g:CbcAAMXQ7j1SKY12

So it looks like WRGT04 is completely on the money? That top panel is the only bit I'd need, as our stereo looks like the one in McDoof's pic. Buying a second set of AC controls for an extra ~$450 sounds nuts.

WRGT04, in the picture that panel looked black; do they only sell silver?

Gotta love McIntosh owners way of thinking - if mine is a two-piece then the rest ought be too and you're all wasting your money/being ripped off buying full-on kits :D

Not sure who's on the money though: ALL 2din kits are two-piece - pre-facelift, facelift, black or silver does not matter, they're all two-piece.

Can only see part numbers for silver pre-face or facelift black top frames, no pre-face in black. Much cheap-O than what's in that listing too ;)

Some pics as promised.

So what "3 clip inserts" were you talking about, WRGT04?..

There is nothing to attach the top part to the AC controls apart from two small guides. The only way to properly install the top part is by using specific brackets.

Sorry to dredge up an old thread; I have a MY04 JDM BL5 (Spec. B). How do I tell whether mine is a splitable unit or one-piece? Do you need to take it out to establish that? Also people are saying you'll need to replace the amp if you go with an aftermarket HU, why is that?

If it looks like this you can split it. This also means you have an amplified McIntosh unit.

As the connectors from the HU to Amp are not RCA you cannot just drop an aftermarket unit in as the speakers are not powered from the HU. The speaker connections are under the passenger seat.

So long story short, you can run new RCA leads to a new amp under the seat (nano amp if you want it to fit) and then hook your factory speaker cables up from there. Or you can run some new speaker cables from HU to your speakers.

There is probably some way to get some RCA leads spliced into the factory loom to use the factory amp, but I have not seen it.

Cheers for the info - pretty sure mine looks like that, so that's a good sign.

With regards to the wiring - hasn't "Guitar_guy" done it here? http://clubsub.org.nz/forum/showthread.php?48404-Guitar_Guy-s-2004-Legacy-McIntosh-Stereo-Hack-Pic-Heavy

I presume you still need a face plate though? Its separate from ac controls but the stereo itself is all molded to the existing face plate

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
