Average Torque Performance Tune?

Im curious on that. I mean how do you tune flex fuel? You cant exactly smell the fuel and say oh thats 98 lets tune the 98 range then wind down the octane 0.5 exactly then go again. Cant imagine its linear either. Most cost a fair wack to tune flex fuel vs singular.

Didn't cost me anymore than standard tune at dtech. They do it by adding different percentage e85 mixes, I'd imagine you would start with two data points which are easy to set up, I.e 0 or 10% depending on fuel and 85%, then work from there adding different percentage ethanol content, the sensor will confirm what it is seeing.

So a few days away from driving down to dtech for the tune. Only thing I haven't decided on is what fuel to run. I've got BP, Mobil and Gull all readily available close to home, and only use the car as weekend toy really so my choice will be purely based on which would give the best performance. I've read a fair bit and been told by dtech that gull force 10 has been tested to yield the most power (greater knock resistance etc etc). Now my only question is, since it is more ethanol and will require more fuel to achieve the peak power, will I need to flow more fuel than I am currently limited by? And would that bottleneck my power gains compared to just bp98? Currently have upgraded fuel pump, stock injectors, and stock vf37 turbo. So the question is would my injectors or turbo limit my max power in full force 10 compared to bp98 due to having to flow more fuel. Target power is 230kw or there abouts

10% ethanol should make next to no difference on fuel usage. Keen to see some results from e10. Most people seem to think its a waste of time and gives worse results than BP98 as the ethanol content isn't high enough to give the cooling effect meeded to advance the timing without knock. Keen to see results otherwise though as its the only ethanol variety available in TGA

So had a chat with Dtech. Gonna go tune for Gull Force 10. Cheaper, readily available around where i live, and potential for more power. Also considering getting my injectors decapped / cleaned while im down there. Any thoughts? Should help with power gains, moving the limiting factor only to the turbo right?

Tune done at D-Tech! And what a tune! Before i post up the results, heres how it went down. So left home at 5.15am, got there at 7.30am. Car went on the hub dyno around 8.30am. Was expecting Dave to do the tune, however they just hired a new guy Chris, who used to work at Speed Tech in Welly! Apprently was the shop manager and has about 7 years experience tuning. So trusted the car in his safe hands. All went smooth, no issues at all. Car ran as well as expected with the limiting factor being the turbo. Got 220kw and 440nm of torque atw! And the car drives soooooooooooooo much better! So much more responsive, and when the boost comes on, its like a freight train :) AFR tuned to about 12 as well. The torque early on is flipping awesome! Oh and Chris finished the tune in like an hour.. lol

Just want to say big thank you to everyone who chipped and gave advice. Really appreciate it! A special thanks to Fozze for the quick road tune he pulled together so i could drive it down to Tauranga!

Here are the graphs:

Please not before and after dyno charts done at Dtech were on 5th gear, where as Torque Performance used 4th.

Not bad for a quick little something I threw together tbh, knew it'd get you close but still safe fueling as I didnt have the ability at the Time to pull some fueling out. Did notice a bit of a hole at 4500.

Looks like it drove better than the torque tune tho.

Nice results Niran.

I got back today from a few days down there. After sorting out some files Chris managed 203kw & 360nm. I'm pretty damn happy with that as the standard TF035 was dismal! Haven't quite had a good run with the car yet since I had the wife and baby down for the trip but damn it sure feels and sounds solid when it's on boost. Interestingly the car made 172kw with the bolt ons on the factory tune (thin green line). And quite a different power band between the TD05 and the VF turbos.

Car is a 08 Foz XT

Bolt ons:

3" turbo back Xforce exhaust

Arashi TD05 big 16g 7cm

DW65c & relay

Mac 3 port

Silicone intake pipe and SFB.

The service from Tony, Dave & Chris was absolutely awesome. Kept me well informed and did the rounds picking me up and dropping me off.

Yeah Auckland would've been much handier.

Good stuff. Td05 16g holding it down in the spool department.

Yeah went with that specifically to get as much low down response as possible. Off boost it's pretty crappy but getting 16psi @ 3250rpm is exactly where I was aiming. Chris mentioned that when spraying a bit of water on top of the intercooler it picked up another 10+kw. Might looking into making a DIY spray setup. But I think I will end up keeping the car as is mechanically just due the limitations of the motor and having to spend so much more $$ to get little gains.

Has anyone had a tune from tunetechnic?

If so was it any good?

The guy who runs tune technic used to work at Torque performance and was pretty good apparently. He's done a few of the tunes that some guys on here have got. He's only rolling road though. You can pay him a bit extra to get a dyno tune done. Probably worthwhile. Otherwise drive down to dtech in tauranga. $1150 for a full tune. And they are pretty dang good!

Mines pushed back to the 1st of July due to being out of town for work so hoping for a good result to make the wait worthwhile.

You auckland lot should make a roady down sometime and have the next dyno day there. Tony sounded happy to have one for a limited number of cars. Obviously alot more work for setup than the MCR Torque dyno.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
