Bleeding your clutch system - How do you do it??

Recommended Posts

So a mate and I replaced the clutch slave on my BG5 over the weekend, easy job with no problems until we went to bleed the replacement.

Here was our unsuccessful process:

- Fill the reservoir with fluid.

- Open bleeder valve on salve.

- Push clutch to the floor.

- Close bleeder valve.

- Pull clutch up from floor.

- Repeat until all air is removed from the system while topping up the reservoir as necessary.

Can anyone tell me why this wouldn't work?

After a lot of googling, someone suggested using an F/G-Clamp to hold the pin in on the slave and to hold the slave upside down to move all the air up so it would come

out easier. We did this and after 10mins of bleeding using this method we were good to go.

The thing is, we don't really understand why this was necessary and would love it if someone could explain a little?

In my googling it also appeared that a number of other people were facing the same issue as we were and the only other

solution was to use a vacuum bleeder, but surely this shouldn't be a necessity?

The slave is mounted with the piston pointed up... the bleed nipple and the feed hose are lower than the piston... so fluid

will come into the back of the slave and right out the bleed nipple leaving bubbles higher up present.

Yep, definitely get that part but why the need to clamp the piston down?

The inside of the piston/plunger can be full of air, forcing the piston in pushes any air out. Also the piston can be pushed too far out when bleeding without the clutch fork to stop it.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
