04 Brembos on 98 sti

Hey guys I am looking into upgrading the brakes on my 98 type r coupe to 04 Brembos 5x100. I've heard the front should bolt on fine but the rears may need brackets can anyone confirm this? Any help would be appreciated Cheers

I don't know the answer but aren't the rears on a Type R good enough? They can't be much smaller then the brembo equivalent and the

rear brakes don't do a lot compared to the front.

04 would be 5x114, 03 is 5x100.

If they are OEM gear, bolted to OEM mounts, why would you need a cert?

Not OEM gear. No 98 Type R had Brembos.

98 Type R has R180 rear end, so the rear Brembo calipers and rotors will bolt on fine (as long as the 04 discs are 5x100).

as above. after speaking to a few certifiers, "oem gear" refers to what that SPECIFIC car had at time of manufacture.

and no pre v7 came out with brembos.

also, increase in rotor size requires cert, and any caliper change from oe requires cert.

the issue around gc era subies is the 4pot argument, which you are HIGHLY unlikely to get picked up on
