I suppose this thread is still applicable now but may potentially start another one that specifically relates to my v6 build.

My RS is at PBMS, Expecting to pay between 3 and 5k, mine being an oldie has run into a few problems, things worn out / things not working properly, so theres been alot of downtime repairing and re-dynoing - I'm definately happy with the service so far

Btw, I highly reccomend FENIX intercooler kits, mine was around 500 including a Good Quality Fenix FMIC (550x240x76)  and joiners/brackets/hoseclamps - I noticed no difference in lag over the stock V1 air to air IC. none at all, ive heard lots about FMIC in subis causing epic lag, even un-tuned I experienced no more lag than usual

Ive even gone with a FENIX alloy radiator too so the bay is looking slick!

"Expecting to pay between 3 and 5k"

/me has a heart attack. Jesus what did you do!  That's nearly more than my motor! and that's a forged CDB with special bits too...

If you have a read of his garage thread you will see why, many issues to sort out, a few new parts and the tune as well.

But yes It did make my eyes water seeing the cost!

I say 5k because there's always something extra that needs doing when it comes to my car lol

thats including the G4 / install and tune, I also got every feature the G4 has to offer (launch control anti lag blah blah) plus they put a new Fenix radiator in it and has been on and off the dyno a few times now.

if it's under 5k then I won't be stressing :)

Its not even out of the woods yet either, I could have a mildly blown head gasket (not 100% but worst case scenario will be HG) so if thats the case add a couple more K on that lol ^_< meh, I will not rest untill this BC5 can moooooove

Sorry I have to ask, what was this in reply to? I'm just a little lost. We're you giving me a price indication?

Thanks for the recommendation on the intercooler and radiators option, I was actually going to ask about that because I don't think my v6 sti tmic will be efficient at 240kw. Wanted some advice on that.

The itl/intercooler.co.nz cores are good. Its impossible to tell from trademe pics if theyre any good as they dont show the inner fin profile. Fenix radiators come from the same chingaling factory as most others so Id dearly love to see inside an intercooler to see if theyre any better.

Just had a look - can't seem to see Subaru kits. Would you just buy the intercooler and sort your own piping is it?

  • 1 year later...

Hi everyone, I’m after recommendations for where to get a BP5 daily driver dyno tuned. I've had a good read of this post, but most of the posts are a few years old and I know tuners move/retire, so I’m asking what the situation is in May 2018. I’m based in Auckland but happy to drive in the upper North Island for the best tune.

Car is a 2006 JDM Legacy GT (BP5) manual 70,000km, fujitsubo cat-back exhaust (fitted in Japan), with downpipe to be fitted soon. I’m after a fast daily driver with useable power (and any economy benefits if possible, particularly driving on ‘I’ mode). I’m not interested in racing or track days. I’m after a professional dyno tune from a reputable tuner rather than DIY. Dyno tune will be the limit of the performance modification, I have no desire to start changing internals or turbos.

(1) Recommendations for tuners? From reading these forums Dtech in Tauranga, or PBMS sound like the best to go for - is this still the case?

(2) What about the GrimmSpeed 3-port EBCS to complement the tune? Seems like a good idea for a few hundy and easy install.

(3) Any point doing intake? From what I’ve read, sounds like the answer is no for the level of modification I’m going for, but feel free to change my mind.

(4) Any other quick, cheap (i.e. few hundy, like the EBCS) performance mods you’d recommend prior to a dyno tune, and why?

Cheers

For tuner go PBMS

Yeah grab a 3-port for quicker spool and A more consistent boost curve. Small cost for the gain they give.

Skip intake, can remove the resonator bottle on the bottom of the stock intake for more noise and supposedly better spool.

Downpipe and 3-port really are the go-to’s for cheap-ish mods before a first time tune that’ll give you the best bang for your buck.

Do ppl get a 3 port for turbo BR/BMs as well?

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
