How is the sound quality with the FM expander ?

I heard that the frequencies you get don't match exactly the ones from the radios which gives you a lower reception/quality. I'm interested in your feedback ;)

I found while driving around the Lyttleton area between Lyttleton and Corsair Bay that I got mixed stations with my band expander. Also for some reason as soon as I pull up tpo my gate at home I lose reception completely.

Also it sucks when heading out of town as you can't text the radio station to get their frequency as it doesn't line up with the band expander.

(I also said I'd chose a Skoda Octavia over the new levorg!)

Band expanders are the simplest thing to install ever, one plug in, one plug out and tapping into a power source. They're shite too

But a lot cheaper than buying a new stereo and surround for a 4th gen outback

there's some mighty cheap stereos on the market now.

eg. a friend recently replaced the factory stereo on his jap import vw golf with a $90 chinese job off aliexpress.

supposed to be "genuine vw oem" - it was full featured -sd, usb, bt etc - and simple plug and play.

sounded better than factory + band expander despite not using the car's diversity aerial.

Interesting facts, learn something new everyday!

Due to these touch screen units, (sometimes with built-in front & reverse cameras & dash cam recorder), FM expanders are often the simplest and cheapest option.

Plus I mostly listen to mp3 via either SD cards or USB.

It is working well (clear and loud) and I think I was told it is a 14MHz, just need to do the Maths, but once the stations are preset, it is just a matter of 1, 2 ,3.

After checking the "Band expander conflict frequency" from your link, I guess I am lucky that all of my favourite stations are between 92.6 -102.5 MHz =)

Shhh don't say that, subaru boxer is gonna hate me !

I already said that I don't like the new levorg STI he posted about, he's gonna think I have something against him haha xD

No worries delta, it is always good to hear other people's' point of view with experience or taste.

Nothing personal. :D

Don't mind me, I'm used to seeing those called something else (sapphire). Maybe badging differences between countries or my memory. I do like the right hand ford badge delete, even though I have a soft spot for non-V8 performance Ford's. Love those rally pumas, escorts etc

A second hand NZ new stereo can be found cheap... also plug and play. No band expander required!

My electrical and wiring skills are not the best, last time I tried to install a car stereo it blew up! True it was a s**ty warehouse job with no instructions in English, not too keen on doing the same to the outback! solution would be to get someone else to fit it of course

cosworth badging should be the same for all markets.

that car has had the main badge reapplied to look liek the sticker badging that appeared on 3 door sierra cosworths.

the 4 -door was officially a sierra sapphire, rhd cars had a small sapphire badge on the rear door trim.

the  4x4 cosworth saloon was a great car in the day.

i recall lusting after a moonstone blue example in the local ford dealer's showroom back in the 90s.

Dude, find a second hand nz new kenwood stereo with the same aircon controls as yours - simply pull yours out and put the new one in - it's all plug and play.

Eg: (can be found alot cheaper)

Yes you are right!

After getting some motivation from you, yesterday I have installed one for my wife's next Subaru.
Brought it from The Warehouse for $13, then plug and power tapping.
I should have done it for my father's Forester a few weeks ago (to save him $50) but I was just plain lazy, after just spending the night installing DRL and rear parking sensors for him. =P

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
