EWG plumb back routing

Considering doing something dumb so after your opinions on whether I should continue being dumb or flag it. Not expecting much in terms of performance, kinda just want to do it to see what happens really.

Seeing @knockoutgiant's EWG setup on here the other day got me thinking about something similar but plumbed back to the downpipe.

The niggly/dumb aspect is the only way I can see it getting from the header side to the downpipe is under the engine crossmember. Had a bit of a search around but couldn't come up with any other examples which leads me to think there's some glaringly obvious reason i've somehow overlooked. Car isn't low and don't have any intentions to ever go more than ~20mm lower than it is now. Could it be an issue for the cert guy?

I was considering just bellmouthing the stock downpipe to see what it did as i'd noticed with it off that the wastegate is actually hitting the blank plate it opens onto.

Plus figure if the EWG setup actually works then it can be used once I go Holset/BW anyway so won't be a complete waste of time.

Seen a few options, a lot of people who plumb back EWG weld a flange to the up pipe just below the turbo - then a flange on the downpipe to connect it, that way it stays above the crossmember

best to take some measurements for clearance then take it all out and put it back together on a bench (up pipe/turbo/down pipe) then fab from there

im looking at doing something similar - getting abit sick of venting externally - draws too much attention

Is here any particular reason to have the wastegate at that end rather than right by the header @boon would have thought not pressurising that long section would be the better way to do it.

Think up super high would work well with single scroll but for twin getting both to play nice looks like it'd be a prick.

In theory, yes. In practice, it's the same as the front-mount argument.

Any decent turbo is flowing (for simple maths!) 420 cubic feet/minute - 7 cubic feet per second - of air.

If my entire exhaust tract pre-turbo had 1 cubic foot of volume I'd be surprised. So the turbo's flow (completely excluding the expansion due to heat and explosions etc) will fill the entire thing in 1/7th of a second; if you add 40cm of pipe to it that might make it 1/5th instead I guess?

Could you run remove the internal flapper, and have a pipe run down beside the downpipe to where there's room to fit a gate upside down - effectively the same as the internal just bigger

Ive done it, just not on a suby

With a custom flange you could. With the p25 housings theyre seperate tracts so I would guess the td04 is the same style.

Liking the look of Boons setup quite alot. Think for twinscroll it'll be better having the gates right at the header so they can be merged before navigating round the crossmember.

What size pipe was used for it? 1.5-1.75ish?

It can make it easier getting the engine in and out too, mine is pretty tight and the up pipe needs to be dropped in before the engine and then bolted up.

I do have a larger (14cm holset) exhaust housing and my ewg is physically big as well making it more awkward.

I will be plumbing mine back in eventually. Wanted a setup like Boons but being twin scroll, the size of the external gate and having that steering column in the way it was gonna take way too much pissing around to get it right. So I took the easy way out. Will figure how to plumb it back in later ahhaha

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
