Sooo, Looking at buying an Outback between 2004-2007 

 

Quick question in regards to the 4 and 5 speed auto. The internet suggests that the 2003-2004 has 4 speed.

MY03-MY09

5-speed automatic, 4-speed automatic MY03-04

 

Test drove an 04 and it was 5 speed so maybe it was just a 05 registered as an 04 i'm not sure. But that is my question, Is it as simple as anything older than 05 has a 4 speed? 

 

Keen on the 5 speed. Also any other things i should look out for in regards to the older 04 model or just general buyers advice on what Outback is the goods.

Turbo and H6 get 5 speed, all others 4 speed.

Why restrict yourself to 2007? Mine is an 08 & @ADIKT's is an 09 iirc.

 

Plus the facelift OB look so much better imo (no two tone paint etc).

Appears to be, can get into a nice low milage MY05 for under 10k

under 100,000 is low for me. looking at one thats done 91,000 and its $8,500. cant beat that for price and reliability i'm thinking
