Unbrick ECU?

ajayel

Recommended Posts

Was downloading a XRT ROM to my 07 BP with the tatrix cable when something went wrong with connection or computer so only half flashed the file.

Now the car won’t start and Japanese writing on dash info display. Can’t access the ECU now with freessm rom raider or ecu flash.

Will have to tow it somewhere in Auckland if you know anyone who can fix this pls ?

Gutted. Never spent a heap of time reading into it but pretty sure you need a new ECU or a very select few tuners have the ability to unbrick it with some specialist hardware. Think Aussie Matt may be able to. Tactrix themselves can do it but that would require sending it to San fran which is a bit of a major.

cheers 4 responses - ECU is about to go on a holiday to San Francisco. Edward (west_minist & XRT ) recommended Tatrix as well.  This morning phoned Tatrix US, spoke to Mike who is a legend, loves NZ and offered to fix and return post the day it arrives. two months in owning my first Subaru I broke it good!

It is fix by flashing to the rom with electronic tools. Once in this mode, this is the only way. Tactrix provides a great turn around.

Please remember whatever you do and you are unsure, do not turn the car off. Leave it on. Charge the computer or reflash again.

cool the ECU is back from the states and the car on the road.  Tactrix are a seriously awesome company.

definitely a newbie f*up  though would be sweet if the software showed do not turn the car off as it knows when the flash failed.

wonder if anyone in NZ has built the Tactrix specified SHBootMode circuit board for ECU recovery

Most people here either get professionals to do the retune on a Dyno, or are doing their own tuning from the ground up, and have done a lot of reading and logging before their first re-flash, so are aware of the issues. Bit of a catch-22 really, those that know about the risks are the least likely to encounter them hahaha

Tactrix are really good, fast work, very friendly and helpful bunch of guys

OK to close this out, seeing as it's lock-down.  The problem was that someone doing previous work left the plastic panel above the drivers feet hanging by the OBD-II socket & wires.  So that got damaged causing an intermittent connection to the ECU.  Fixed by installing a new OBD-II port from iWire https://www.iwireservices.com/product-page/obd2-port no troubles since.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
