Wastegate actuators

Has anyone other than @Niran looked at more than the outdated factory actuators?

Oem looking dual ports for usd$30 good for 25psi (higher options are available)

They still need a 4 port solenoid which seems to be about $180 but gives a fully stock look.

A fully electronic actuator based ones for reasonable Cost.

VW ELECTRONIC TURBO ACTUATOR 1.2 TSI 1.2 TFSI

depends on the control signal but if it's PWM then it would be plug and play (well tuning needed)

the dual port works kinda like an external gate where u have dual ports.

a cheap option for internal gates that can flow enough at higgherboost levels.

i wonder how well the electric ones (like mentioned above) can close a gate when running higher boosts - maybe have a "rated" spring pressure to them??

Pressure port goes to bottom port and also t's to the 3 port valve. Then top port goes to #2 port on 3 port valve

That will be as effective as a single port and seems pointless

You are still always applying pressure to the bottom, with 3 port setup so best case zero sum across diaphragm. Boost top and bottom just equals out so back to spring pressure,

With 4 port you get atom bottom and boost top until it's cycled so boost plus spring to keep the gate closed.

Never had any issues getting what ever boost desired this way. 4 ports are usually very sensitive to changes in duty cycle. If you have enough pressure to push open a internal wastegate with back pressure too high then you have way too much backpressure or too weak a spring

I did wonder about the factory ecu controllers ability to cycle the 4 port fast enough. It must be twice as sensitive to each cycle so the frequency ideally would need to be higher,

maybe the newer ecu or external controllers cycle faster than the older ecu.

isnt the point though that you can run different boost levels with a light spring giving low boost and then the dual port give is the higher boost settings.

With si drive you called have i 7psi, s 20psi and s# 28 psi or whatever max psi you want. Also limp mode would still work correctly as the ecu will be coded with the Wastegate low psi rating. Not sure if limp still monitors boost pressure so just guessing and hope not to find out.

if it's a track car then sure it is just wasted parts where a spring will do and far less to go wrong.

Would love to the answer to this as well, as i'm considering getting one. The guys over in the U.S seem to swear by the 4 port, in conjunction with a twin port IWG.

I want to order the usd$40 one that looks like the stock one and give it a go.

only thing is twin scroll all have bends in the rod and they only sell single scroll straight ones so have to customize it.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
