Legacy 2001 remap rev c model

Hi guys anyone know where to get an ecu remapped for a Subaru Legacy 2001 in Auckland area that’s not too expensive? I was quoted 1200+ GST. at possum Bourne Motorsport. They’re pretty good so I assume that’s why they charge so much. Wondering if there’s any cheaper place that’s decent, don’t really wana spend that much on a remap. Thanks

If its 2001 I think you mean Rev-D in which case you are in luck. If its a Rev-C there is no remaping going to happen.

@Pappu1 Would be your best bet

What are my options if I have a rev. c ? Buy a replacement ecu and rewire it? I read you can’t reflash using open source software but u can do it using paid so idk maybe possumbourne can do it but 1200$ is rip

Rev D is quite a different engine to the Rev C. Can't plug+play the differnet rev ecus. If you really want power either v7 swap it or buy a turbo forester and single turbo it.

I'm pretty sure there are guides for both floating around on here.....

as above.. ecu swap needs to be accompanied with loom and some sensors and few other bits..

the rev c may be tuned on ecutek which is what they would potentially use.

if you are wanting some cheap gains then just the exhaust system makes for a decent pull

perhaps a zerosports sequential controller helps with VOD

some people dot the parallel turbo mod (hose 10 mod i believe its referred to) and up the boost a bit..

Thanks roughly how much power would I get out of a remap? Should I remove my manual boost controller and do the hose 10 mod? Does a mbc make both turbos boost the same psi or would it be ok for me to hose 10 mod with the mbc? Or no point and will cause extreme overboosting? Right now it feels like there isn’t the same peak boost from when I bought it stock compared to now which is a while later.

try the hose10 mod and see if u like it

some people dont like the feel of it and revert back....

keep an eye on the boost gauge and dont hit over 16psi for now while you testing

I don’t have boost gauge on my car so I’ve been trying to use romraider to check manifold relative pressure but that’s probably inaccurate. Anyone around Auckland willing to help me install a mechanical boost gauge for cheap? Or are they fairy easy to install diy? I can’t do wires if that’s necessary though. Rom raiders telling me 13 on primary and like 18 on secondary but from the feel of it that’s probably not true might be something like 15-16 psi realistically

So with ref to my picture, i detach the hose with the blue outline and block that off, then connect the remaining 2 thats the horizontal part of the T?

easy to put a temp boost gauge

romraider should be accurate to within reason..

tee the boost gauge off the bov line and just run it to the cabin for testing

no need to hardwire it or do it too neatly for now while u testing

whats the most amount of boost id wana see? after remap and pre remap?

after remap - whatever the engine is happy with.

if its healthy sometimes 18/19 at high point

or even 20 then settles lower in high rpm..

all depends on the health of the engine

do basic things like service and perhaps a spark plug, also do an upper engine cleaner as well

replace your fuel pump and filter so you have good fuel flow

So pbms just advised me they don’t have ecutek for the older gen Subaru’s. Tunetechnic doesn’t work on twins, do I have any more options in Auckland or am I screwed?

not really i guess - maybe just downpipes and hose 10 mod and boost controller and using some knock detection/afr logging equipment, safely up the boost..

that could be an alternate

but for that is not a tune as such - more of a safe boost setup

have done that for a few cars where ecu was not accesible

Is the secondary turbo boost controllable? Does hose 10 mod affect the secondary turbo too? I have a boost controller on my primary but a Subaru specialist told me that the se ondary is not controllable via controller and is basically in free boost

Both turbos are controlled by one wastegate. See the photo below how there is only one wastegate at the primary turbo to control the exhaust flow. I belive of you put a boost controller on you risk over spooling the primary in single mode  as the boost controller forces both turbos to run the same boost.

Also what size hose do I need to buy to go from BOV to manifold for the hose 10 mod?

Pretty sure inner diameter is 3.5mm, but should be fine with 4mm for such a short run

The boost pressure will be different on both
turbos. The secondary boost pressure cannot be controlled directly. It is operated using a differential pressure sensor which allows a calculation based on the primary turbo
pressure. The secondary more or less free boosts but the amount of air allowed to pass into the secondary exhaust housing is metered using a separate valve. So it cannot be
controlled like a usual waste gate system.
The primary turbo's boost setting directly
alters the secondary boost pressure and
 characteristics.

this is the reply I got from subtech after they installed my mbc and upped the boost for me

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
