4 pots and 15s

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

On my wrx 93v1 i have 2 pot front brakes (factory spec), i have a set of 15s with gravel tyres, i also have 4 pots from an sti, what im wanting to know is will the 15s fit over 4pots, and if not what would be a suitable brake upgrade if i was going to retain the factory brakes?

Not too keen to get new mags and tyres for the gravel when some people think the factory brake are ok (ish)for what im wanting, no serious track weapon here, just some hillclimbs/autocrosses/daily driving duties.

highly doubt they will clear 4pots (15")

possibly may if they are proper rally wheels as many use 15"s on rally cars

BUT my OEM 16"s barely clear my brakes (same diameter as 4pots)

IIRC koom had a link once to 15" special wheel supplier to clear big brakes for the rally guys

Average 15s (like the factory ones) wont fit over 4 pots - they dont even fit over the bigger GTB 2 pots! But as Joker said, you can buy 15" rims suited to rally that will fit - brands like Speedline and Oz are a good place to start. But expect to pay a bit for them.

If your lucky you might find a 2nd hand set, otherwise ask around workshops that work on rally cars or talk to your fellow competitors.

Personally Ive found the braking limits of my 2 pot brakes on gravel are more related to the level of tyre grip rather than brake ability.

too upgrade what u already got if u go down that road

I would put a brake booster brace in,Change the Fluid to a known good brand/type,fit a set of slotted rotors(people seem to be anti crossdrilled and slotted but they worked a treat on my folks V8 Calais) and fit a good set of brake pads ( I swear by bendix ultimates)

thanks guys,

not really looking to buy new rims or tyres, just wanting to know if i can get away with putting 4 pots on(not looking so good in my case), but I will jsut try and upgrade what i have for the mean time anyways.

I've got Goodridge braided lines, Cusco brake master cylinder stopper, Znoelli S12 slotted discs all around with match Znoelli pads upgraded on my WRX. I guess that's what you could call a "mild/sporty" brake upgrade so you might want to consider a similar setup/upgrade? Spent ~700 all up but what I'm getting in return is definitely worth it ;)

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
