suspension ?

ride

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone i have a 2018 Subaru legacy  3.6 rs   which has had the sti package put on  which subaru  nz  did with new legacys as an option .

My question is i find the suspension really bouncy   i am pretty green with these things but does anyone else own one & find the suspension the same ?

Do i need to get the suspension changed to fix the problem ? if so where or who would anyone recommended in Auckland  to go to ?

I’m guessing all they did was a different spring on the standard shock. I don’t think anyone else on here has that legacy yet.

Is it a firm ride that bounces back on bumps or bouncy all the time?

Doubt there is much you can do other than changing the whole set up. May we see if Subaru dealership have any options for you?

Hi there  ,know they did nothing to the actual suspension  . they put a rear sway bar on & a flexible tower bar under the hood for the front . its a soft ride  when you go over juderbars   its very bouncy  & when on the open rd when you hit a bump its quite bouncy someone told me they changed the suspension from the model before  not sure , maybe  i will ask subaru ?  thanks for you help

from snz

https://www.subaru.co.nz/promotions/legacy-sti-experience

it's largely $5k of sti performance cosmetic bits 'n pieces.

one item that stands out as a potential cause of your bounciness is the "STI embossed supersized 19" alloy wheels and Yokohama tyres".

the snz photo shows a Yoko BluEarth A.

this is a crappy eco tyre, it has no place on a sporty car !

check the tyre pressures, wheel alignment.

gut feeling is poor tyre choice.

it's a shame to see the RS and STI badges used this way  :(

^^ THIS ^^

They're now a "badge" to denote a cosmetic upgrade. Yes, they may have been designed by the proper engineers, but gone are the days where they did a lot of the work themselves in house, to make properly special cars.

from what your saying it "too stiff"?

i usually think of bouncy as in floaty like a boat which would be worn shocks (unlikely in this scenario)

It's the latter

@ride look behind one of your wheels, what colour springs can you see there?

If the springs are black (i.e stock standard) I'd look into swapping them for some STI pinks (just what they'd shown in one of the promo photos). Wouldn't go through Subaru NZ though but rather get a set imported myself/else and installed by an independent Subaru specialist.

Yes the springs are black, very observant of you with the promo photos ,   thanks for everyone's comments  , will now have to decide what to do .

Has anyone used Subtech Subaru Mechanics in Penrose ?

Highly recommend a set of H&R springs for the Legacy.
They make a 3.6R specific set which @mlracing.co.nz can get for you.

Do they have a rear sway bar fitted.

If it rolls or leans to much in corners then it’s a easier fit to fit a bigger rear bar.

They upgrade the rear sway bar as part of the "STI" package.

a new car shouldn't be this bad ?

🤔

I agree but it'll also be down to the driver's personal taste.

I'm surprised they fit all the other suspension tick box items but not the STI pink springs.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
