Redline Performance Radiator and Intercoolers (WRX/Legacy)

What are your experiences with Redline products, full alloy radiators and intercoolers in general?

I've just purchased and had a radiator installed which only cost as much as a plastic one from elsewhere and looks to be great although a tight fit and had to zip tie the radiator hose so that it would not touch the pulley and the fans. It was suggested to cut top of the radiator hose but managed to get away without it surprisingly. I had mix of reviews; some saying that they are manufactured in the same factory as Fenix ones and were a good quality (tried to go for Fenix but was told they have revised the design for the model and won't be available for a few months), most were saying if they are okay for a few days then they should last, and some saying they fail soon after the warranty period.

Now I'm looking to purchase TMIC which is very cheap ($375 https://www.redlineperformance.co.nz/product/top-mount-intercooler-kit-subaru-wrx-s-gt-2008-to-13-forester-2009-on/) as opposed to likes of ProcessWest ones which cost $1,500+, and was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this? You pay what you get and with radiators, they are prone to fail as they can leak but I was wondering what could go wrong with TMIC's except for fitting issues?

I've had a Redline radiator on my STI for years, seems to work just fine. Radiator hose did need shortening by a tiny bit though.

I don't know much about that top-mount. They used to do a front mount kit for GDBs that had a terrible core in it, who knows if it came out of the same factory or not.

Look the inter cooler fin design won’t be as efficient as process west by miles but it should be as good or slightly better than OEM thing with plastic ends.
So the increase is size will make the difference.

just pressure test it before fitting and if it fails get it swapped.

stuff from China is often from the same factory but cheaper brands have lower or no testing or quality control.

Without the zip tie and having it sit on top of the fan casing, would definitely need to be cut. Glad to hear it lasted and seems so far so good on mine.

I guess that's why there are a lot of out of box failures for these and you get what you pay for at the end of the day in terms of performance and quality.

Yeah, the TMICs on Legacies are definitely much smaller than STIs and was looking for a cheap alternative. Was curious to see if anyone actually had bought one as I'm mainly concerned about the fitment. Although it is only advertised for WRX's and Foresters, it's supposed to be compatible with BL5/BP5 as they share the same factory intercooler by the looks of it.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
