Thoughts on S-GT vs V6 WRX

I just test drove both of these cars, each was stock... I was blown away by the difference! The V6 was from 2000 and had an EJ207 in it, not sure if that has been swapped at some point or they did actually offer that from factor?

I drove the S-GT first, thought it was nice and civilised.. had a bit of pull which was fun, but nothing amazing.

Then I test drove the V6 WRX, it blew my mind, really put you back in the seat. I can't even describe how different it was, but I loved it so much more in almost every way.

Has anyone else had a similar experience with this, would love peoples thoughts on the difference between Hatch WRX's and the earlier generations!

Cheers

I mean you'd probably want to compare a 08-14 Hatchback STI to one not an SGT for a more fair comparison if it had a EJ207 but yes in my experience they're more engaging and 'feel' faster than the later cars. But they're less sophisticated in the suspension department, brake department, engine department, monocoque department, safety department, drivetrain department and more. ...but they are heaps of fun

V5/6 STI's came with a 207, WRX's came with a 205

I'd say the WRX is a much more 'raw' driving experience.

It depends if you value extra's like safety, sophistication, brakes etc. as outlined above.

I owned an S-GT a couple years back and they're still super fun wee cars that are just definitely held back by the crappy factory tune - so highly recommend getting it tuned properly if you end up buying one.

Also probably need to outline that the V6 will likely be going up in value too.

The weight of the newer cars is what holds them back from feeling fast.

even the STI needs a tune to feel fast. But the handling is a lot better and the parts aren’t generally worn out.

the 08-14 are the last of the cars without driver aids and radar crap so that’s a bonus.

the sg-t is very soft from what I remember. I drive one before trying the sti and that was it. But the sti was still pretty sad until I found a tuned one.

some slight lowering springs and a rear sway bar plus some wider rims with good tires and the sg-t is likely very nice and corner very well.

The DCCD diff does make it corner nicer if you open it up which the STI feature.

sg-t is probably easier to insure and really isn’t that attention grabbing.

Can vouch for the S-GT being easy to insure, owned one at 22 and it was basically no questions
Lowering springs on it made a world of difference. Factory suspension is more 'i want to carry the kids around in comfort but also have 250hp' soft and floaty.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
