thread revive!

so my '96 gtb has some 80% worn no-name tyres and it seems to handle alright with fresh sway bar links and strut braces front/rear. with little tread its a bit slippery in the snow as i found out this weekend haha

anyway, due to a puncture i swapped a pair of 95% new linglong 215/45R17 @35psi onto the rear.

holy ****. it feels like i removed the rear sway bar completely. the sidewall and tread flex is ridiculous. tug the steering at 100kmh and the car delays, then rotates from the central point of the chassis, then wallows back again like i'm on a boat (mother******)

maybe i am missing a sway bar link. i'm going to check when i get home. surely DOT rated tyres are not this dangerous?

You are missing something alright... maybe check what is going on between the steering wheel and the drivers seat.

The problem is the linlongs, they are utterly crap, I used hate selling the ****ing things, so much so that I would purposely sell better brand tires at far lower margin and move them than sell linlongs...

Linlongs still make me shudder, they were naf to fit to rims and usually damaged my machines or operators...

215/45R17 Linlongs should be run at or around 32psi max in an unladen WRX/Legacy (and that's on a calibrated inflation gauge, i.e. Bridgestone swaps their ones for new every 6 months)...

To put costs in perspective 2c/km to 4c/km for tyres is cheap compared to fuel cost of 22c/km ( @ average consumption of 10L/100km)

Don't really want to economise too much on tyres especially going into winter.

So much is said and done on here ie money spend on : regarding performance increases, brakes, suspension mods etc all a complete waste of time, if tyres not considered, if those 4 small rubber patches that make contact with the road is compromised.

Electronic traction aids ie ABS VDC traction/stability controls etc are compromised also.

In my opinion the first thing that should be upgraded / maintained, is tyres before anything else, before going silly / starting on other mods, at least you know have a better chance of staying on the road particularly if boosted.

Run GTs (normal use) / Bridgestone Blizzaks (winter use) on Outback and

cheapies on Brumby coz thats all it needs :P

I've recently bought a set of gt radial uhp1's to replace the hpy's I'd worn out and I quite like them as a reasonably sporty, touring ish tyre. Good value from mag n turbo. I'd run them on my Subaru much, much, much sooner than anything like a nankang/linglong/triangle etc.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
