What have you done to your car today?

Got to decide whether to spend an estimated $3500 to $4000 fixing my oil consumption problem or take a chance on an estimated $800 fix.

One piston is .002" out of round... the rest are square. But the clearances are .006" to .008" (I guess the .008" one is the out of round bore).

So the cheap option is to just change the piston rings... the current oil control rings have almost no tension... and the compression rings

are worn. New rings will be an improvement, but no guarantee of a complete fix. The more expensive option is to rebore, new pistons/rings

and bearings.

Not a daily driven car so some oil consumption is acceptable. Don't really want to spend $4000 but really don't want to be smoking and spending as much money

on oil as petrol.

Bought new front top hats as I have managed to ruin the rubber mount that holds the spherical bearing so the entire strut is trying to climb through the strut tower.

So now I have solid mounted pillowballs to install tonight.

On the dyno I removed the air filter to see if it made any difference. 1kw increase in power compared to the previous run...

Air filter was a cheap and nasty Repco pod filter attached to stock under manifold intake pipe (no AFM as running Link). This was in a fairly stock GC8.

Conclusion, wish I could fit the stock airbox, but front mount piping is in the way!

Successful day,

Fixed the impreza + new oil change

Removed the SSQV(real) from the sti, <- drives soo much better, less rpm drop between shifts, stronger boost in low rpm, very reccomended do to. I forgot what full drive ability felt like.

Turbo doesn't spool as loud now, :( :( use to sound like a jet plane. But now I have wastegate chatter on high boost  Maybe it was just masked by the ssqv before.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
