yeah there is; stay with the one that is in the car :P

Sure.. If stock 4th gen unit had all the functionality I wanted i.e extended radio frequencies, connectivity (USB/Bluetooth), a screen for the rear view camera etc I certainly won't touch it.

5th gen BR9 got most of that plus McIntosh, no need to swap anything.

Each to their own really.

Gave the project car a bit of a tidy up inside and a vacuum, turns out under all the tools, dust, stones, rubber mats and the odd part I've replaced, there's a nice and tidy set of factory floor mats. With the drivers one looking even tidier than my old one.

Have much of a struggle getting the axle's off?

Ripped both my front axles out this arvo to get new boots. PF Auto guy reckoned I was pretty lucky they weren't completely rusted and seized to the hubs.

Before I got those hubs from you I hit an axle so hard that the end mushroomed out; couldn't even get the axle nut back on so ended up replacing the entire half-shaft and hub.

I figure it was f*cked anyway....

Bummer. Just ended up putting a piece of wood against mine and a single whack with a hammer was enough for them to pretty much just slip off

A brass or copper hammer is ideal because you can put a heap of effort into the swing with minimal risk of mushrooming the axle. Not a tool that is required too often though so it is hard to justify the purchase.

I usually put a little antisieze on the splines before I put them back into the hub to prevent issues down the road.

I've gone to town on really stuck stuff with a brass hammer before; just ended up with a really chipped very expensive hammer.

I asked a mechanic about it and he said they made up a fitting for a porta-power, they put about 5 tons worth on it and leave it overnight; usually come back the next morning and it's all in pieces on the floor.

EDIT: A spot of anti-seize is a good idea, I think I threw a bit of grease on mine for good luck.

wooden/rubber mallet achieves same purpose for a fraction of the cost

They are a much more useful tool in most cases but when a CV is seized into a hub I much prefer a copper hammer. Maybe you have the swing of a lumberjack but I can't get the same amount of force behind a rubber mallet as a copper one.

Plastic hammer is sweet for 99% of uses but copper hammer is awesome for getting CVs out of hubs. Sometimes you get lucky and the CV just pops right out, then it doesn't really matter.

I've had the shaft out a couple of times. Fort time for the boot and 2nd to replace whole shaft as the inner joint was knocking away. First time out it was stuck in there good and tight but a 3 jaw puller and a rattle gun made light work of it. Copper antiseize is good stuff! Put it over everything that requires it

I hit this with a sledgehammer, not gently, I play a lot of softball so I can swing things pretty good.

If you could move this spline with a rubber mallet I would declare you a wizard.

DYEL bruh? ;) Shop press wins all though.
Sometimes C***s are stuck; sometimes I spray things with entire cans of WD-40/CRC 5-56/INOX then leave em overnight.
if that fails- find a press or jimmy something up.

Drastic times call sometimes for your measures though; F*** the C***, get a new one.  TBF, I did once break a hub pressing out a bearing...GG, no re.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
