What have you done to your car today?

Would need turbo, injectors, pump and intercooler. You'll get 190-210wkw with everything but the turbo depending on the dyno.
And some dynos tend to read a bit higher? Especially at say a track day it can vary quite a bit? Still pretty happy with its performance at the moment certainly don't need anymore power yet

Just got a reply back from original owner, managed to track him down through a mutual friend.

"hey dude, benji was having a laugh with 310 at the wheels. We took it down south and did one of the track/dyno days. Pushed boost up to 16.5 peak power and got 186kw, fuel cuts came in hard past 17. Chuck some pinks in and get returned be away laughing. Enjoy, brett"

That sounds a lot more realistic. Dunno why exactly they were getting fuel cuts unless that really is where the stock map has the boost limit at. Should be easy enough to raise the limit to something a lot more usable.

Stock side feed injectors will be good to around 200wkw but you may end up leaving a bit on the table in the mid range as that will be where you max out the injectors.

Put back on air intake etc, throttle body, intercooler, water tank, iacv, strut tower brace, reconnected pcv/egr/injectors/water hoses, bled coolant, oil change, rfb fixed a tiny solenoid hose with a boost gauge line that's the next tiny size up, fixed some previous rfb repairs, tidied up threads, stains etc, wiped down garage floor, got a CEL, had a fugly idle and loud ticking sound, adjusted iacv, diagnosed loud injector, did aforementioned rfb repairs, CEL gone on second start up. Excess oil dumped on tree stump under cover of darkness. CEL not checked, took me 9 hours. Time for bed 👍

Went for a 60km boring cruise down state highways with lots of commuters for a 40km fun stretch of road, just to test that everything is working as it should. Not pushed too hard as I've never been down it before. Great success 👍

Many many many hours of 3 stage detail, wet sand, compound, polish, wax then sealant after hitting the wall at manfield plenty of battle scars but I think it turns out really well for not paint touch ups.eb5f92429ba681be6d19026e0a23dc39.jpg

Put a little air in tyres.

Went to pop in release bearing to pressure plate, heard the retainer ring pop off and fall inside the pressure plate.... tools down and walk away.

Fast forward a few weeks, drop 6 speed out alone, remove and fit new Exedy bearing cage and retainer ring and reinstall gearbox.

Photo shows the original ring on the left and Exedy on the right, difference being the diameter which would affect stiffness.

Remembered that I had several sets of STi pedals sitting in the garage, so mashed together an Auto GC/GF and a manual BP/BL set to make a set up for the wagon, and now have a set for the WRX too if i decide to get rid of the V7 pedals i have fitted at the mo.

Weirdly I have a cover that looks like it fits the foot rest, but the instructions make no mention of it, so can't figure out how to fit it. So if anyone knows let me know :)

So I replaced the power steering pump on my car because of a mistake I made doing the inlet. I followed the instructions to jack it up, fill to cold minimum, leave the cap off and saw the wheel from lock to lock, adding fluid until the level stays stable. However, the system is still letting in air somewhere and bubbling up while running. Any ideas what could be causing this?

Actually, I just figured it out. I was squatting down contemplating setting the car on fire and I realised that the power steering cooling sits significantly higher than the res so I unbolted it, dropped it down, sawed the wheel from lock to lock a few times and viola some of the fluid level dropped, topped it up and fired it up and problem solved. No more bubbles or foaming.

  • 2 weeks later...

Made someone else find the fuse that died.

Which was on the back of the fuse box. WTF. Who puts fuses on the back of a fuse box?

Now I can see out the windows when it rains and have a heater.

Time to go get a WOF for the first time in 18 months thanks COVID19.

Who knows lol

I found it because @Kiwi_Fozze gave the the tip of using a bike pump and it was dropping straight to 0 so since I am a smoker I tried blowing smoke in to it and found that was where it was coming from.

But that wasn't the end of it gotta new throttle body and still dropping to 0 smoke seemed to be coming form same sorta area and found that the plastic intake is cracked so it's now gone from 0 to 100

Gonna get Silicone intake, split fuel rail, cams, replace rocker cover gaskets since one is leaking and time belt

Finally found the cause of my burnt oil smell, after replacing the rocker cover gasket to no improvement dug in further and found...

Fi2SKHFl.jpg

a leak from the Cam Cap.

So a bit more difficult then the rocker cover then :(

Got it finished, and put a new Timing Kit and Water Pump I had as I was in there (taking the AVCS cam pulleys were a c*nt even with the proper subaru tool don't believe the videos on youtube!)

Then drove it to Whangarei as a test. So far so good it seems, no more leak onto the exhaust manifold.

Also finally managed to complete my Genome gauge install, as the supplied sandwich plate wouldn't fit. So went to pick a part to grab an adaptor to install it into the engine block. Then had to steal the pressure off my WRX as it turned out the supplied pressure sensor didn't work

Still, theyre up and running now, and they look good and allow me to track how the car is going which is what I want.

Had a SuperPro sway bar come in at work, so decided to see if it would sort my squidgyness during cornering. Bit harder to fit then the an impreza due to the duel exhaust, but so simple enough.

Did manage to snap a bolt while tightening it down with the torque wrench. Only 55nm, so perhaps I should be happy it failed now instead of mid corner....

Also got a v11 STI steering wheel the other day, so finally got around to stripping my old Momo wheel of all its buttons and switches and adding them to the STI wheel.

Much nicer to hold as the old Momos go super smooth with lots of use, and the red stitching must give an extra 5kw or something. Matches the red dash lighting too!

Picked up Niran’s old Processwest FMIC kit to go with his old turbo set up and a set of very low KM 2019 STI springs and struts that I've been told will bolt in and give the car a nice drop without behaving poorly like most aftermarket springs on stock struts do.

This past weekend was work on the STI before its tune next week.

I ran out of time to clean my workshop beforehand sadly!

Up on the hoist, down pipe off, engine mounts unbolted and disconnected from the gearbox.

Engine out! (this is the only way to do spark plugs, right? 😛 )

Clutch was roasted, no surprises it was slipping, the plate was right down to the rivets, and there was material everywhere.

New flywheel and clutch:

New fuel pump:

Complete secondary air injection pump removal, a pain having to remove the up pipe!

Wrecked engine mount, thankfully I had spares from my rally car, thanks Subaru for not changing the design in many many years!

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
