  1. Hay all, just wanted to share my little project with you! I am not a professional installer or an electrical engineer. This project is not perfect but in my opinion good for an armature. I hope you all enjoy. Tablet is a Nexus 7 32gb 4G. Fist off the car is a Gen 4, 3.0R B-Spec Auto. And yes you bet the interior is as beige as your nanas house. https://flic.kr/p/r3TZod The old satnav is a dog, not in English and poor screen quality. So with out hesitation I ripped it out. Here is a picture of the satnav panel and my nexus 7 tablet. https://flic.kr/p/r271W8 As you can see it wont fit.... so a little cutting and fabrication is required. Using a heat gun, MDF spacer, body fill bog, a lot of sand paper I ended up with this: https://flic.kr/p/r271Wi Not bad for a furniture salesman! Now before I could install it I needed to make some changes to the tablet. 1. Install "Element X" kernal that unlocks 'Fast charge mode, OBD2 and touch to turn on'. 2. Program the app 'Tasker' to turn the device on when power is present and to flick it into 'aeroplane mode' when the car is off. These changes are just a quick summery. Taker is also programed to do a number of other things to personalize it to my car. Then I need a PSU. I found a little gem on Trademe. 3amps 12 - 5V usb PSU ($12). I wired this to the sig lighter. To interface with my McIntosh Head unit I used an adaptor: https://flic.kr/p/r271XR The final result looks like this: https://flic.kr/p/rkqrCg https://flic.kr/p/r3T8uU https://flic.kr/p/r41d26 Total cost about $400 I hope you enjoyed that. If you have any questions im always keen to chat. P.s I will post detailed fabrication pictures when I find them. (Iv temporally lost them.)
