Dyno sheets are great for stoking egos, take ya toy to the track/strip or where ever and shows what it can realy do in the real world setting fastest times or lap records !!!! Ive only got 20plus years of this to post but hay ill get one of them right one day but youll never keep everyone happy and im not going to try...... And then we have a vf23 :'( that a few have a hang up on but i can see there current builds payed off big time awesume, ones a right off i believe so its all turned out fantastic or maybe just karma. Now lets see these key board turbo pros open a shop and show us all how its done, should be easy to top the crap ive done as i have no idea what im doing.
  2. after speaking with someone that dyno tuned a certain persons car yesterday informing of all the veriables of all the setups and changing sweep rates ramp versus step on the dyno you can make it read whatever you like. im due to be down welly way in the next month im so hanging out for a friendly catch up with customers.
  3. Great pics Koom i have a few of those turbos and their bigger brother. Internals are done for ease of manufacturing people like audi porche bently for years have used externals, as power levels increase the better need for better control thus externals become a must but mounting them becomes an issue as in a stock sub not having alot of room to work with. The main issue with internals is the increased backpresure on the turbine due to the gate outlet being of higher velocity than the exhaust thus why drop pipes run a seperate tube/divider which enters further down the front pipe to help reduce the problem. The fact that most subs suffer from boost drop off on the topend increasing the gate size or to larger external if running one makes this more of an issue, in this case a stronger actuator on the internal is a far better option.
  4. every unit i do is built around whats needed or restrictions that arnt to be changed, there is many options and too many to list but i also go threw engine options to make sure the customer is up on whats needed to reach his goal on his budget or lack off. Having a deep wallet is an easy way to build any car as the catalog does it for you, but doesnt mean youll have the result your after combos dont always work from car to car even if everything is identical but some basic things you cant go wrong with. And for the record if any of these so called fantasy people that drop kick goes on about do actually exsist then im not that hard to get hold of and who ever i supplied to would have contacted me pretty quickly, many things come into making power the turbo is only a small part of that. Dont expect to make 800hp by just bolting on a t51r you may have to change a few things for some reason.
  5. the closest i can find is a japanese brand called kinugawa which driven performance have started to do although haven't had any on cars in nz yet. they do subaru flanged td05 16-20g and td06 hybrids up to a td07-25g. prices aren't cheap though, starting at around 1400 with the bigger units encroaching on the cost of a ball bearing garrett. i've read overseas reports that the quality is pretty good with some turbos having garrett internals, but have struggled to find dyno plots of them. given the price is more than getting a hybrid from you, let alone the fact it's a gamble on real world performance it makes more sense to me to get your hybrid. the garrett ta3410 is very cheap, but then you have to change flanges and buy/fit/run an external. same with masterpower turbos (although i imagine you probably don't like them because of your best mate baz manon being an agent for them) most cheap turbos ive sceen dont come with any comp map which is a gamble, the ta3410 is a great buy for its price as you say spend 6k fitting it. baz sells them hes not a bad sort and his old man bruce is a legend for the way he runs his escort and many years of racing behind him. masterpower is a garrett knockoff as with what most copies my bitch with all of them is if your going to copy something wouldnt you atleast make it better in some way? the price of cheap knockoff's is going up to the point oem units are on a par price wise which should make it a easy choice.
  6. RX6 mmmmmmm nice turbo shame they stopped making them
  7. Again many thanks and i tell you what guys if all the bullshit and back stabbing stops around hear ill post a step by step build of upgrading a vf unit in detail so everyone understands how its done and what you get.
  8. btw is your price 1100 just for the work?or doe that incluse the turbo?mayb you should show some evidence of your work and gain some respect on this site, cause it doesnt seem like youv got it.a hand full of people on here knw you and how your the turbo guru. Again thankyou for the kind words that 1100 is what most shops i deal with retail the upgrade for i cant say the trade or ill get shot for it, that is the cost with the unit supplied to me. our asking me for proof? Ah that could crash the server but i am after being bugged having a website done with who what and where plus lots of pics. I can supply lots or dyno graphs but please remember that doesnt mean much its just a number but as yourve said the results come from the people using them in set applications with targa wins, world records ,track, drags have ive even had my units win the scottish hill climb champs! I send to aussie, bruni, dubi, india, burmuda, fiji( they have some dam quick cars there ) england, blah blah blah, when im asked with respect i give info but being bagged tends to get a bad responce for some reason espeacially when its based on hear say.
  9. Cheers and what other alternative is there out there apart from chinese crap? Atleast i use oem parts and when a full exhaust will set you back over 1k these days to gain 5-8kw its not a bad deal. Cost is all relative to your wallet and from most sub places i supply to the customers dont want a new hole ripped in them just a a little more kw without replacing an engine or the engine bay, putting 500hp turbo on a medium to high km engine isnt smart and doesnt do any good to the owner when it goes bang.
  10. well based on that you are a hypocrite and you would be the only one thats had an issue even speedtech have tuned afew and made the numbers on a stock car!!along with the many i supply to possums and aussie and they dont have any issues maybe you just dont know much about how to tune a setup thus you have to spend lots to gain another 30kw? your right they dont work thus why many use them and many on trademe use the fact i did it to sell their cars, opps and a certain v8 using same spec as you did 10.9 can you top that? Bang for money 1100 as a straight bolt in with the right tune and mods will get you 240kw wheel or another 10-15 with cams or spend 10k to gain another 30kw, you got a bargin there sweetheart. And sorry i cant compete with 6400 posts guess one off us needs a life.
  11. you got one of my turbos to the spec you wanted then spent around 10k to get more power then bagged my turbo for not doing a job that it wasnt never meant to do in the first place so unless you delete the posts you bagged me in dont be a hypocrite.
  12. Now how the hell am i meant to answer that? Thanks but im wasnt after an ego boost just getting sick of the crap i read and the funky replies of uneducated drop kicks that only have a life behind a pc trying to bad name people in the industry for their own short falls in life. Apart from that its all good but i have to say i love reading the power figures people quote from turbos that is impossiable to do when i have all the ihi factory maps ,but its somewhat disapointing and very misleading for those who go "awesume bro" then wonder why it doesnt happen. Still i guess thats the net forums for you but would love to see these keyboard pros open a shop and show us all hows its done, gez i wonder why they dont.. : Thus why i dont bother helpng on forums anymore was never after work just trying to help to which no one does these days without putting their hand out.
  13. yes but your td05/6's are a bit different in both performance and cost to a std td05 or chinese td06. i know you can't keep up with demand, but i hope you find the time to do my one for capper. i'll be sending you a donor soon! This is where issues come from bad reps come from bad products but i will say i only have issues from how others interprit things in nz yet anything i send overseas that doesnt happen, as i said many times its the nz tall poppy syndrome. I do units for some very top line people around the planet and yet that makes no odds to people here, when you watch movies like the worlds fastest indian you can even see it happening back then guess things havent changed.
  14. people that find turbos lack responce for a set size like the tdo5/6 is normaly due to others things in the setup that havent been done correctly, most 20g/tdo5 ive done make full boost before 3500 but hay dont take my word on it im sure theres plenty of key board pros on here that dont do this for a living know way more than me......boy could i add to that. As of the first of this month garrett will no longer supply repair parts for any GT turbos 35r and down and that covers bearings seals housing comp wheels etc etc, if you damge anything even slightly youll be buying new.( dont believe ring up Alltech diesel and see what they say) they are the nz garrett agent. Might pay to keep this in mind even if you buy from overseas it still applies and if you want a the new EPR borgwarner the same applies enjoy. For the record i cant keep up with suppling tdo6/5 combos but again dont take my word for ask my accountant and im not after more work thanks
  15. he will fill you in on all the details i have to make patterns now for the new housings as ive only got two left
  16. i need to get the last print out from possums i did a tdo6/5 8cm on a fairly stock 2.5 that made 290kw wheel on 16psi and full boost at 3600 that sound good? had a stock topmount as well opps that was a trust flange but with the sub 7cm itll be more responcive just loose a little up top. ring and ask gary or paul theyll tell you all about it
  17. Wow didn't no your were so offended by the way people talked on these forums. You don't see me picking on every little thing that you say in your posts now do you?? But then that would be going to your level now wouldn't it!! As for the pre schoolers remark, come on BUDDY, keep up with the times how many pre schoolers do you no that say " yeah bro"?? Find some other way to be a DICK!! ;D ;D 8) 8) your right i cant beat that intelligence level or logic.....then again it wouldnt be hard to better it if you were a pre schooler
  18. That says "OIL" ??? I always thought it said "710" and means the oil weight you're supposed to put in it atleast someone has a sence of humour around here without a brainless reply of "yeah bro" or are we dealing with pre schoolers? :
  19. wow im lost for words drags use presure relief valves to protect against over boost or backfires if everyone treated others with a little respect you wouldnt get half the crap thats posted around here thus why i dont bother, to many keyboard pros that couldnt find the filler cap if it didnt have "oil" written on it let alone be turbo pros. my blet carry on theres great progress being made.....
  20. 100% on the money you can fudge a dyno to make the owner feel better to justify the hole they ripped in their wallet ,the black top never lies. Sorry i cant equal 5900 posts im out having a life in the real world.
  21. How about a version 8 that ran an upgraded vf36/big 16g making over 260kw and pulled 10.9? ring a bell you guys need to seriously put down your vodo dolls grow a pair and show everyone you can do so much better or find someone that knows how to make the numbers happen and can back it up with proof like a 10.9 unless you already have....without spending over 10k to do it. To which there was a full feature in a mag and thousands got to see it in action and up close!!! Many have used the upgrade and still do it was never designed to set the world on fire it was however a straight bolt in with only a tune needed not custom everything and new hole ripped in you to fit a GT setup to gain another 30kw and close to 10k. Dyno sheets dont mean crap if you cant back it up with something everyone can see in the realy world. Its not smart to supply an upgraded on to which for most are high km's or unknown condition motors then say "itll be fine mate" unless you enjoy replacing engines to which most arnt. Its always easy to stick the knife in when the guys not around, realy big tough guys with chips on their shoulders.
