Sorry if this seems like thread hijacking. I always thought the Sti Legacy had Brembo brakes etc. It\'s a nice lookiung wagon but would hate it if I paid for something advertised as an Sti and it turned out it wasn\'t, know what I mean? I know what an S402 is and know how rare they are, have also seen Sti Legacy\'s on TM a few times and once again seem to remember Brembos being present. They\'re not really an Sti in the same way an Impreza Sti is, as far as I\'m aware the Leagacy\'s got different exhaust, seats, wheels etc but no engine tuning as such?

There are currently no genuine Legacy STi wagons on trade me. Yes they come with brembos and loads of upgraded STi features

    NZTA

Be prepared to join a queue as there are only a limited number of SIV\'s allowed per calendar year.

An acquaintance has recently imported a Lancia Integrale that can\'t be registered until next year.

    From the above link

    Important:

A maximum of 200 special interest vehicles will be granted in any one year.

A special interest vehicle must be border inspected and/or certified for entry into service in New Zealand no later than six months after the date of issue of a special interest vehicle permit.

Might be easier to find a car already landed in NZ ?

Cool thanks Mate, Will check it out. I will look for one in NZ first but there so hard to find in immaculate condition

But doesn\'t the car have to be at least 20yo to qualify for emissions and frontal impact exemptions ?

An Impreza is not likely to qualify as a SIV.

You would be surprised, given the limited-ish production runs of STI and special models, relatively high performance etc they tick all the relevant SIV boxes as far as I\'m aware.

EDIT: Must meet 3 of these 4:

The vehicle (or its make, model and submodel) is identified as being a collector\'s item in one of the following magazines or their respective websites – Australian classic car, Car and driver (US), Automobile (US), Motor (Australia), Motor trend (US), New Zealand autocar, New Zealand classic car, Road and track (US), Top gear (UK), Top gear NZ, Unique cars (Australia) or Wheels (Australia).

The vehicle\'s make and model has been (or was) manufactured in annual volumes of 20,000 units or less.

The vehicle is, and was manufactured as, a two-door coupe or a convertible.

The vehicle is, and was manufactured as, a high-performance vehicle.

I believe the yanks consider early (GC/GF) STIs as fairly rare/collectable cars but if you get a coupe then you don\'t even need the collectable classification as you easily tick the other 3.

How can I go by finding out more info and getting an accurate answer on being able to import and register the car. I would look at importing one if this is possible!

    Cheers Mate

Think I would be able to import a 2000 V6 RA? Only 2000 made

    /quote]

    Maybe in 7 yrs time.

    ;D

New import laws, They can be classed as high performance and less than 20000 made which meets requirements

I had a VF22 on my V5 Type R, Was fast but lost power as the revs climbed. My current car, V6 STi RA has the Vf28. Has great power through all the gears and holds it through the rev range.

sounds a bit weird, 22 should be good all the way to redline. maybe the tune was holding back? its a bit hard to judge 2 different turbos on 2 different setups

Yea well from my understanding the 22 should hold good! But My 28 in my current car just keeps pushing, Its insane!
