  1. You will see a improvement in spool up times on your Turbo, I ran a 38mm External on my Td04 and saw it spoolin at 2200RPM, with some supporting mods.. But it shites it'self after 5400rpm. The external sees more exhaust gasses freely flowing, at the extent of the atmosphere.

    Get it rerouted into your downpipe, or you will have some legal issues to deal with. I was looking at buying a Electronic cutout for use on my 44mm once I get it in. This would mean I can either run the wastegate open, or closed with the flick of a switch. But will need to be run with engine mangment or seperate maps. like the Link G4 etc.

  2. I have a K&N cone *97% Brand new* off a mate, and though about doing a ghetto install job. Instead I didn't... :-\

    Anyway, you would preddy much chop off the Airbox and use some metal clips or fastner from Bunnings etc to attach the Pod to the MAF Sensor, *this way it won't screw with your ecu too much & run rich* You won't have to buy all the extra piping, haha. ;D

    POD => MAF SENSOR =>

    http://www.wrxfanatics.com/index.php?showtopic=1572&start=0&p=15262&#entry15262 I saved this link ages ago when I was looking into choppn up my box for a ghetto pod filter,

  3. :D Yay for clubsub,

    I also went from the GTB to the WRX. I travelled through every caryard I could travel to within reasonable distance to me, (waikato) and pretty much used common sense as my no1 when comparing vehicles,

    1# Spot check the vehicle, check for RUST, especially in the engine bay, check the downpipe for rust, check the turbo for any oil seepage, or anything unusual that might look like it's on it's way out. Check for paint defects, underbody..signs of welding or undisclosed previous damage.

    2#Modifications such as manual boost controllers, blow off valves.. Stay away from a 2nd hand wrx with a bov or manual boost controller (MBC) venting bov's can cause *disputable* damage and wear on the engine, this includes Air intakes/Short Rams etc that have not been tuned.

    3#Tyres, atleast 75% Tread :D, check that (if from a dealer) they arn't using snow tyres, these are very dangerous for our roads. Ask the dealer to swap these. Check out the suspention by taking it for a test drive over some bumper surfaces, speed bumps, or country. *Not off road* lol, don't got doing any unecessary damage.

    4#While test driving *Don't purchase without driving* get out to a long straight, or high way and let er rip.. ;) place her through each gear, and check for any problems.. should be smooth shifting without any clutch slippage. From a stop check the turbo, this should be spoolin up at ~3000RPM, Should be smooth and reaching 1bar/14.7psi in 3rd/4th gear.

    6#Use your common sence, too high k's, etc, slugish driving, shoddy suspension.

    #Take it to a performance car garage to get it checked out. They usually see these cars often. Get the mechanic to take it for a spin down the road, (go with him/her) Ask them for there feedback what they think,

    ;D happy driving, V7 is the best, as the are less common for boost leak.
