  1. I should have put this at the start of the last post.

done some looking um were do i start.

Pluged scanner into it and come up with injector #1 fault.

The passangers side spark plugs are white and drivers side black. These are new plugs.

When you do finally get it to start it does not run on hi idle .

The radiator fans both go full noise all the time.

Has had new walbro fitted in the last couple of months, heaps of sets of plugs, new fuel filter .

had second hand AFM fitted a few months ago.

Cambelt is in time and not very old

A few months ago i had a look at it and just checked the same things as i have this time, apart from checking the colour on the spark plugs .

I went back to it after a few days and it started fine ran on hi idle fans were off it ran MINT.

Two weeks later and it started running like shit again.

Im not to sure how to go about this now any ideas would be awsome.

    Thanks in advance

  2. one of my mates has a v1 wrx nothen fancy but when it hit 4 psi its like it hit a brick wall , it starts missing and pissing around so i hav droped the boost to 4 psi and it has no problems its just slow as a wet TURD!

I put my scan tool onto it and it had a boost pressure solnoid fault ?

I put a second hand one on it and no difference ?

    any help would be mint.

    cheers mike

Tell me bout it i blew my six speed in 2008 $4600 to fix it and that was me doing the work that took awhile to save up.

how long has ur rex been rwd ?

hav you had any problems with axles?

    /quote]

well its been off the road for mods for the past 8 months or so but it was rwd for almost a year before that. was running 167kw before current mods, will be pushing minimum of 220kw now though, capable of more after i forge the bottom end.

nope no problems with axles at all, car still has its axles/cvs that in came into the country with(probably original), im the only nz owner and ive done nearly 70,000 hard kms in the 3.5 years of ownership.

so ive done well really i guess.

Shit yea done real good i got an r200 with axles last night out of s14

so gona start the conversion soon it will be interesting to see how that goes.

Ill be able to mount the diff fine it geting round the axle thing im not sure about?

oh mine has smashed the pinion shaft and half the crownwheel.

iv got some grunt out of ths wagon out of parts i hav lying around. it can start a standstill in third gear . i b]didnt expect the diff to go first[/b] the gearbox makes that much noise its not funny.

    but its worth it .

you dont need a skyline or a cefy to do a good skid.

yea im sure mine would start in 3rd as well, never tried though, was only doing 2nd gear starts cause i dropped 1st gear lol.

speaking of gearboxes i should probably mention i have rebuilt my gearbox 3 times since its been rwd. first time was $1000 just in parts, new input shaft and lost 1st gear had to replace 1/2nd gear selector hub/syncros and gears. 2nd time was the lay shaft and input shaft bearings. 3rd time was all transfer case bearings.

so yea i basically have a new gearbox, all other syncros had also previously been done while still 4wd lol.

gearbox parts arent cheap even at trade :'(

They will fit with a lot of work. Modified subframe, prop shaft and half shafts. Not a cheap exercise, but then you're not likely to ever pop a diff again.

    yea as above.

mine has the standard r160, only wrecked one, didnt blow it just got a noisey front bearing, and that diff got a hammering, lots of burnouts, donuts, 2nd gear clutch dropping, you name it, it got it lol.

changed it for another r160 and its been fine til i took it off the road. im not worried bout putting a bigger mechanical lsd in, the r160 viscous locks up both rears instantly every time, thats all i care about.

plus r160s are cheap as chips and takes me 15min on the hoist to swap one haha.

Well over the weekend i was very bored , so i sat there and after a long think i decided to take my rwd 92 gt legacy wagon out and after alot of thrashing it broke what a suprise!!!!!!!!! ::)

I had a bit of a look and found that the diff did not like the thrashing it got,

    yet another suprise !!

but thats what i did to my car .

now i have to go hme and do a diff swap oh the joy of a rwd .

did any one else and any problems like that ?

Very common to kill diffs with RWD subies, i'm surprised you even asked.

Get an R180 to reduce the chances of that happening again. R160's don't last long as RWD's

AS fer me. Fixed my bung speaker. Turns out a crimp in the back of the head unit fell out, AND the solder was ****ed on the passenger side speaker.

I blame fastfour, your crimp job on this $20 head deck sucks au!

    \

I new it was gona happn just a matter of when. it lasted awhile tho quite suprised realy !

i got prepared for this and got another set of axles and rear diff out of a 96-97 sti dont know what sort of diff that is.

Yeah well hard to be sure from those pictures but to my mind that piston has a certain melted look to it, and that would go with that big crack in the bore. Valves dropping off dont ususaly crack bores, overheating does though.

na mate cracked just below the head of the valve no melting there
