Yep my bh5 slaps too randomly and seems to only do it on decel, but has stopped now haha... Car goes mint so i wouldnt worry about it unless it gets worse

Yea i got them, they are awesome. Just make sure you ONLY drive on the snow, if you drive on the road they die asap. You'll be fine to travel, just make sure its during the day, i've made it at 2am snowing like hell. You should be sweet!

I've done it for years, mostly in a rwd skyline and haven't had much trouble, saying that, you have to be careful for the usual hazards, black ice etc... And goin over the lindis pass can be hairy, but they do grit and grade it. Coming from wanaka, if you go over the hill that can be dodgy and if you go around past cromwell then you go theu the gorge which can be dodgy too haha, but just carefully and smartly and you should be right.

Also if the temp needle goes right down when your driving can mean there ait no water in the radiator. Maybe a big airlock, or the radiator is getting blocked. Might be worth giving it a good old flushing

Still makes the noise regardless of if the clutch is in or not... I have sorta determined that its comin from the left hand side of the engine (lookin at the car from front on) down at the head area. My ps pump is pretty shagged but couldnt be that? How can i easily test the balancer? Cheers for the offer! Nah the lifters are solid, but maybe a clearance issue, or im leaning towards piston slap maybe.... If it does it while under decell then wouldnt that mean there would be no load on the piston and it would make that noise? Although doesnt change when warm or cold...

Well just visited Reuben, and still no clearer, what else could cause this weird noise... Apparently it idles rough aswell although i have never noticed it myself but i haven't owned one before either.. It makes the 'knock' sound at idle and sorta goes away when revved but is audible on decelleration... Spose i should just take the damn thing to a mexhanic to get diag at least

Isn't the fuse there so you can tow it? I thought using nuetral in the auto qhilst coasting is bad for it, thus when the car is picked up by the front wheels, the rears can spin freely?

Hmmm judging from these videos, mine doesn't have the hard out metallic 'ping' noise. im pretty sure i have a exhaust leak around exhaust maaaaybe headers too but not certain. When its warm it doesnt change much, like when im drivin i cant hear it, unless im against like a drivethru wall or something. Car still goes good as normal but dont really wanna test it too much at the mo haha...

My mates got exactly the same car as me but auto and had a front left impact behind the firewall, engines still good and apparently it goes hard as its had some injectors and hybrid turbos put on, but he's not exactly sure hwat ecu it's running... Im always weary of this and i dont really want mine far from stockish, as it is a work/mountain car and if i want raw speed all getta gtr or rotor/v8 toy....

Hey, the motor is cold in that vid but not dead cold its about 18deg in the park, but i know what piston slap is when it's cold but it's a noise that wasnt there before... Hopefully its not the big ends, the noise goes when you rev it, but i thought it would anyway cause of the oil pressure goin up? I pm'd Reuban, yea would be mint to talk to you qtowners, i been here 15 odd years so prob know a few, who know a few haha
