  3. ... much more investigation took place, and, found that some B*stard, has put the air filter box back on and broken the hinge side of it (closest to the motor) so there is now a bit of a hole there. Also, IMO the filter needs replacing. So the question is this, would that cause my issue? If i change to a POD will that fix the problem ? (i imagine that to be cheaper than trying to find an original air box and the other bits that arent there). Also, since it has the AFM right at the end of the intake pipe, is it hard to install a POD? A mate suggested could be BOV not holding pressure enough (broken / worn spring) i dont know enough about them, but that sounds feesible.
  4. update noticed it doesn't matter how hard I push the accelerator its still doing it to some degree

  6. ok no boost guage on the car, its standard, only thing the guy has done to it is turbo timer and alarm, headunit change. No engine mods. If its a boost cut, what can i do? I dont think its fuel cause the engine still rev's up, Could it be air? He did have the turbo re-cond, could it be possible the turbo is trying to boost too much? Whats the best thing to do to try sort the problem? or am i best to take it to a garage the specilises in performance vehicles? (i have searched the other posts on boost issues, but cant really find a solver, other than clean the MAF, clean air filter, test boost, but no boost guage)

  8. also now that firing issue is fixed it keeps cutting boost in every gear can hear bov engaging. any ideas? its like it hits boost and goes booooooooooooost psh boooooooooooooost psh boooooooooost psh, all the way through rev range, (still goes like fuck!) what would cause this?

  10. So got my spark issue fixed, my mechanic mentioned that there is a leak in the main oil seal, and on the passengers side tappet cover. Anyone wanna help me fix it for a box (or more than one) or piss? Timaru or close area EVOWRX ill get you model numbers for seals

  15. Right o ( i dont wanan hear about "just leave them in the doors) Ill be doing the doors also. Will any generic spacers do the job for this? There are some on trademe for $20, or do the spacers need to be some specific size? I'm also just guessin, without looking, that the spacers need to be there, so that you avoid cutting the metal, but there is still enough space to trim the parcel tray slightly to put the magnet through? *But im guessin cause its dark and I havent even looked on mine yet)* The plan is, to get 6.5" 4way pioneer fronts (cause iv had them before, and amped, they go fekin fantastic) Whatever fits in the rear door (also be pioneers) Pioneer 6X9 rears All amped via a 4 way amp (the setup on this will depend on how tunable each set is together, obviously ill have to run two sets off one channel) and pioneer headunit (havent decided on what model) Yes i like pioneer, only because i cant afford another FOCAL system, o how i miss it

  17. Version 7 (2002) So no point tuning then? How hard is it to mod the tray to get 6X9's in there? I'd like to do it, will probalby do door speakers also. Wont be goin sub, just like a nice amp that can provide the speakers with the power needed

If my WRX was imported (I THINK but am not sure, it didnt come from japan, please correct me) the reason i say this is it has a 260k speedo, and the indicator switch is on the left, not the right (which is quite annoying in a manual). Anyway, if its imported, im under the assumption its tuned to 100 octane fuel. Is it possible, or how hard is it to tune it to say 95 fuel? Will it make a difference? Also, Does anyone know what size speakers fit in the doors (4" or 6.5")? And, how deep have i got to work with? I really want to put some pioneer 4ways in front and rear doors, then amp them to a V12 amp (wires already there) and swap out the X PLOD head unit for a pioneer. (not a sony fan)

Ok So the good news is, the seller paid me half of the total cost of this giant F**K around, i also mentioned he might want to kick the arse of the mechanic that didnt pick it up in the first place AND VTNZ for also not picking it up. If anyone's wondering, the aa's tests do pick this up, VTNZ's will only if the testing office has a heavy foot.
  20. Are you talking genuine subaru ones or aftermarket ones? Genuine Suby ones came back at $391 each from a suby dealer (FUCK!) Price im quoting is aftermarket through the guy that usually does my mechanical work, and he's pretty good. His price is $146.96 per coil (3 needed) + GST.

This is true, HOWEVER, I paid him $XXXX deposit, did the ownership papers, and the rest is coming from a finance company, the finance company have put the rest on hold, until this is resolved, as they agree that since the seller was aware the car had been missing but had failed to fix it, there should be some remedial action taken, before the loan can proceed. Can but try, not trying to be a cunt, but fk sake, $1000 bill straight up. And yes im very pissed about the check, but he paid for it, so its him that should be pissed. If he doesnt want to resolve it the loan will not proceed, dunno what happensa fter that :-\
  22. Ok It would seem what happened is, The guys in auckland that supposedly changed the coils, change the incorrect cylinder. New coil was in cylinder 1 not cylinder 3 as was required. Subaru scanned, and swapped the coils over, the misfire changed to cylinder 1. (the one the old coil was put into). Should i now chase the seller for the costs of all this? for me to replace all coils etc is gonna cost me over $1060 by the end of it all
  23. My apologies, put it in wrong section in the first place. Car is 100% standard. only misses when it boosts over 3000rpm, estimate 3250 when the miss starts to occur, cuts turbo out and everything. Going to take it to subaru Timaru now EDIT it does have an immobiliser alarm installed, and a turbo timer, and different head unit, but thats all
  24. so flew to Auckland ex timaru to get wrx. went good till hitting the motorway then missed bad. took it to a garage who scanned and found cylinder 3 missing. replaced coil on that cylinder seemed fine. got to taupo and fkin did it again. keeps doing it. on boost just above 3000rpm in 4th and 5th. possibly in 3rd but not first or second. suggestions? ? o2 sensor just replaced. when first miss check engine light came on. but this had not happened again. any help gratefully appreciated
