  1. yeah I'll be doing that and some. just gutted really. the good people at Allen auto service are fixing. still a 350$ bill I didn't need
  2. so bought a 2002 wrx off trademe had it vtnz checked came back fine. flew to Auckland to pick up. hit 3rd gear MISS MISS MISS MISS. F**K!!!!!! It's just had o2 sensor replaced and had it scanned cylinder 3 missfire . probably coil pack. anyone know roughly how much a garage will charge to fix? ? :-[
  3. Ok, I know this has sort of been done but... I have a 2002 GT 30 Wagon. Replaced the headunit with a pioneer as specified in other threads. Has the factory Sat Nav screen, which i wired up so that i could have the aircon controls up as specified in another thread. The problem is, now the sat nav has a blue screen with japanese writing all the time, and every so often flashs and says "boot Abort" I have the subaru navigation system DVD in the screen doesnt seem to help. Also none of the buttons on the sat nav screen ever seemed to function. Any ideas? Can i just turn the display off apart from the air con? if so how? Any help would be appreciated. Please dont close this thread.
  4. Just to add, How did you locate the wires needed? I have a 2002 legacy GT30, just wondering in case there different. Cheers
  5. dunno if the thread is dead, but our one did 700k to 45L, thats 15.5k/l from nelson to temuka, and that was me driving it at 120 most of the way. with round town and open road driving we get around 570k to 45L. so thats about the 12k/l, Having said this, the most economical way to drive these cars is heavy foot it to 100, then sit there. babying it as my wife does, will actually burn more in the long run.
  6. Any idea how much im looking at? there's no numbers or anything on the relay
  7. Disregard that I have isolated the problem at the RH headlight relay, swapped them over, and all go and vice versa. Where could i get one cheap and fast?
  8. Mate Im a bit n00b, can you tell me exactly where to look for the fuses, relays and ignitors? Cheers
  9. yeah they are HID. will try cheers
  10. Where exactly will i find the individual fuse for each? The reason i believe it is not a fuse or a bulb is the headlight does go every so often, so im wondering if something is loose or the ignitor (??? is that the right word) is faulty
  11. I have a 2002 GT30 Wagon, one of the headlights goes, the other doesnt, its not the bulb, at one stage it would go sometimes but now it has stopped all together, any suggestions? If anyone could tell me what i can check or what is likely before i take it to an auto electrician that'd be really good, perhaps with pics of what im looking for etc Any help greatly appreciated. Anyone that solves the problem can have a 24 pack
  12. ideas on / anyony got a 2nd hand one goin? i see trademe has a few, but no idea if there same model or not
  13. Here's a pick of the front, (dont have car yet so dunno what actual damage is there, no accident damage detected by AA report) Out of curiosity whats a 2nd hand lamp assembly worth? Awesome help so far, keep it comin Pic
  14. Anyone in south island area keen to do it as perk when it needs done (still got 5000km to go) will help if required, keen to learn (pref timaru or Canterubry area)
  15. Hey anyone keen to do a cambelt on the above vehicle as a perk? dont really wanna pay garage prices, can help if necessary, prefer timaru area, but can travel Anyone interested?
  16. No idea, its standard so, whatever the standard is, if that helps
  17. O yeap so heatshield pretty easy and not a major? I havent seen what he's on about and wouldnt honestly know how to pick it
  18. Ok cool thanks lots for the info. The AA guy said that the adjuster was remote (meaning automatic) Any idea's on how hard / how much to fix, if it is a reflector, or a adjuster? (im talkin ball park figures) I wouldnt even know where the heat shield should go on the turbo so thats why i asked if it was hard to fit, im assuming it just bolts on pretty easy?
  19. Yeah im intersted please post photo's of each, is the heatshield an easy fit also? Any idea's on the headlamp adjuster? Reckon its a good price for the car?
  20. So im about to buy a WRX wagon, did an AA report, few things have come up wrong, tell me what you reckon along with any estimated repair costs would be very much appreciated. 2000 WRX 2l Turbo triptronic etc 94438KM Turbo Heatshield missing (is this neccessary? cost of another one?) L/H headlamp remote adjuster faulty (WTF is that? Cost of a new one? Necessary?) Radiator overflow tank leaking (easy to repair? cost of a new / 2nd hand one? ) Other than that it had some panel scratches and dints that are gonna be fixed before i pick it up. Basically i want to know, are those parts really required (I realised the radiator overflow tank is), Does anyone know where i can get replacements? if so how much? 2nd hand is fine. I have thought of getting the radiator overlfow tank just plastic welded (would that work?) I really wanna know about the LH headlamp remote adjuster and the heatshield (i assume that the heatshield is not totally necessary) but if it is where can i get one? Any help appreciated, parts dealers if you can do me a deal please do get in touch. (payin $9400 for the car once panel work is fixed) Cheers ;D
  21. Unfortunatly i dont have the car yet, but thats the one im purchasing, so cant say what the number is It appears to be a standard feature of that car, which is a 2000 WRX
  22. Ok i was more lookin for someone that has removed one of these before and actually knew, I'm also not a big fan of using adapters, RCA's only as that way it is a Nominal output and is less likely to distort. Thanks for the info so far
